Suggested Reading Order

The debate between Chronological order and publication order, or something of a mix has long been part of the landscape of the Deryni series.

I prefer to use Chronicles of the Deryni and Deryni Rising especially as the first book to introduce new readers to the series. The number one reason I choose this one is because Deryni Rising can be read as a stand alone book.

So, if for some reason, they don't like it. They can just read that book and stop. Nothing loss. You don't feel like you have to read other books in a series just because it ended on cliffhanger or for completion sakes or the like. It makes for a good introduction.
