3	Marc	Sept 2	"Spotted John" says goodbye his performing entourage and, hours later, finds himself at The Broken Mast, a tavern in Carbury.
4	Jerusha	Sept 2	Elspeth Rowen, the heterochromic stepdaughter of The Broken Mast's owner, is determined to travel to Grecotha and discover the secret of talicil, an old Deryni medicine. She will be accompanied by her friend Amy Aldan and a yet-to-be-determined bodyguard. She hopes it isn't Spotted John, who just entered the tavern.
5	Marc	Sept 2	The bartender and bouncer of the tavern strike up a conversation with Spotted John, who gives his name as "Bede." They hire him as Elspeth and Amy's bodyguard to Grecotha.
6	bynw	Sept 2	Mysterious men in black leather and chain mail break into a monastery and find nothing.
7	Laurna	Sept 2-3	Amy Aldan is annoyed by the hiring of the nearly shirtless Bede and her mind wanders back to another unnamed shirtless man whose life she saved. She insists Elspeth's brother give Bede a shirt. The three set out on the road the following morning.
8	Revanne	Sept 3	Edwin Scrivener, a second-year student from Culdi is waiting for the new term at Grecotha university to begin. He is dissatisfied in general and feels his life is in a muddle. He thinks about what it means to be Deryni, even as his family had always treated it as nothing of importance.
9	Jerusha	Sept 3	Elspeth, Amy, and Bede take a rest and enjoy a small picnic at the side of the road where they rest and eat and get to know each other a bit.
10	Nezz	Sept 3	Airich O'Flynn is researching Deryni secrets in the Grecotha library and having little success. He overhears some students arguing over "the Deryni question," then finds Edwin and recruits him to help find books. When asked, Airich claims to be Human and gives a false name.
11	Marc	Sept 4	The group from Carbury come across the aftermath of a clash between members of the city watch (led by Captain Phineas) and a defeated group of bandits. They arrive in Grecotha.
12	bynw	Sept 4	A group of anti-Deryni priests and bishops meet to discuss their plans to shut Deryni out of the priesthood.
13	Nezz	Sept 4	Airich and Edwin discuss the Deryni and whether or not they can really heal others. They discover Orin's Healer's Song and it moves them both.
14	bynw	Sept 4	Two men in Torenthi discuss plans for "the Order," and their concern that the Willimites and Custodes have become bolder, going so far as to burn some Deryni. They discuss an unknown "him." (Readers of GotP are likely to make certain assumptions about one of the men and the person they are discussing.)

16	Revanne	Sept 4	Edwin and Airich go to dinner at the King's Arms inn. They eat stew.
17	Laurna	Sept 4	Carbury group checks in to the King's Arms inn and go down to dinner. The eat fish and they regale each other with stories.
18	Marc	Sept 4	Bede recognizes one of the barmaids as a girl from his childhood.
19	Laurna	Sept 4	Amy and Bede tease each other. Amy reminisces about her last visit through Grecotha. She and Elspeth tell Bede how they met.
20	Nezz	Sept 4	Edwin and Airich are talking when Airich picks up the fear from one of the barmaids. He steps between her and the man who is threatening her and punches him after he tries to get past Airich to the barmaid.
21	Revanne	Sept 4	Edwin joins the fight when several of the big man's friends do. He gets in some great blows.
22	Laurna	Sept 4	Amy notices the commotion and realizes they're too close for comfort. She tries to pull Elspeth and Bede away and falls over for her trouble.
23	Marc	Sept 4	Bede refuses to bet on the outcome of the fight.
24	Nezz	Sept 4	Airich is grateful for Edwin's assistance, realizing how thoroughly they're outnumbered. He gets in a few good hits.
25	Revanne	Sept 4	Edwin keeps fighting, and is alarmed by the noise of the crowd egging them on; he doesn't want to get arrested. He notices a man from the bigger group steal his satchel and head toward the fire with it. Edwin tries to get to it, but trips over the unconscious body of his last opponent.
26	Jerusha	Sept 4	Elspeth snarls at Bede.
27	Laurna	Sept 4	Amy notices the satchel in the fireplace, about to catch fire. She fails to alert Bede, but Elspeth notices.
28	Jerusha	Sept 4	Elspeth retrieves the satchel from the fire, but one of the brawlers comes for her. She throws a stool in his way, but he kicks it aside.
29	Marc	Sept 4	Bede intercepts the man charging Elspeth.

30	Jerusha	Sept 4	Elspeth and Amy run upstairs, taking themselves and the satchel to safety.
31	bynw	Sept 4	A student at the University tells his fellows that a Deryni and his Human friend will be burned at the stake within a fortnight.
32	Revanne	Sept 4	Edwin regrets jumping into the fight to help Airich and vows to never assist anyone else in the library. He sees Elspeth "stealing" his satchel and running away with it. He thinks he's been set up by Airich and these girls to steal his bag. He runs upstairs after the girls and finds himself locked out of their room.
33	Marc	Sept 4	Bede throws his opponent into a bunch of other men, then runs after the barmaid. He thinks it's Winnifred, his fiancee, but discovers it's Winnifred's cousin Muireagain. She doesn't recognize Bede at first. She tells Bede to sneak out the back to avoid the bouncers, but she'll be safer in the kitchen.
34	Nezz	Sept 4	Airich is grateful that Bede knocked down several of his opponents, and is feeling the affects of the brawl. Jasper, the big man who started it all, seems to be the only one still in it, but one of his friends sneak-attacks from behind. Airich puts them both down and heads up towards his room, trying not to faint.
35	Jerusha	Sept 4	Elspeth is arguing with Edwin through the door and makes Edwin tell them what's in the bag so that they can positively identify him as the owner. Amy is convinced that it is his.
36	Laurna	Sept 4	Amy is ready to use her dagger on Edwin if he tries anything funny and lets him in. The three of them exchange heated words and throw accusations and Amy threatens him with her dagger, but the women finally accept that the bag is his and he even thanks her. Edwin marvels at her eyes.
37	Nezz	Sept 4	Airich makes it upstairs, cursing himself for not using his Deryni powers to save the barmaid the easy way, and passes out in front of the Carbury women's door after Edwin chews him out.
38	Jerusha	Sept 4	Elspeth has Amy and Edwin pull Airich into the room and latches the door just as the bouncers come looking for the troublemakers. She treats Airich's bruises and lacerations, and straightens his broken nose.
39	Marc	Sept 4	Bede hides in the stable, waiting for the bouncers to finish their sweep. He sees the innkeeper throw out Jasper and his friends, with Jasper complaining about his lack of Muirea. They think Airich must have been cheating to have beaten them, and Jasper suspects magic. Bede climbs the inn's wall and sneaks into his room.
40	Laurna	Sept 4	Amy helps Elspeth treat Airich and uses her Empathy to find where he's hurt. He notices and Mindspeaks to her, which triggers her and reminds her of her knight from years ago. She runs to the other side of the room and refuses to touch Airich again.
41	Jerusha	Sept 4	Elspeth is concerned for her friend, but continues treating Airich and doses him to sleep. She gives Edwin what-for when she discovers the student abandoned "his friend" to chase after his satchel.
42	Revanne1	Sept 4	Edwin apologizes to Elspeth for thinking them thieves and admits that he earns a living using the writing implements in his satchel. They discuss hiring Edwin to do a job for them and he will happily copy a letter for them in the morning.
43	Marc	Sept 4	Bede hears a man's voice through the door to the girls' room, and argues with them about his not being there to protect them. He gets inside and traded insults with Edwin, but then realizes that Edwin was one of the men helping Muirea. They make their peace, then Edwin goes with Bede to his room to sleep.
44	Nezz	Sept 5	Just before dawn, Edwin and Bede help Airich back to his own room. He insists on getting a handkerchief from his rucksack, and when Edwin touches it, he feels its magic, but is annoyed when Airich won't tell him about it. Airich is left to himself and he thinks about the woman who'd touched his mind. He decides she's probably Hill folk with Second Sight instead of Deryni, but then has a brief memory that keeps him from sleeping for awhile.

45	Revanne2	Sept 5	Edwin arises early and thinks to return to his studies, but find Elspeth and Amy at breakfast, joins them, and begins copying their letter. He is professional offended at Elspeth's suggestion that he might share the contents of the letter with others. When finished, he takes the letter to Canon Damian.
46	Laurna	Sept 5	Amy is distressed by thoughts from her past, and Elspeth suggests she return to bed. Amy takes her up on this offer, but goes to check on their patient first.
47	Nezz	Sept 5	Amy helps the red-headed serving girl bringing Airich breakfast. She is surprised that he looks as well as he does and wonders if he is Deryni and has healed himself. She gives him medical advice and leaves. The serving girl thanks Airich for his rescue of her, and he gives her the knife he'd taken the night before.
48	Marc	Sept 5	Bede finds Muirea in the hall as she's leaving Airich's room. She tells him how she came to be in Grecotha and he offers to help her against Jasper. He then explores Grecotha and returns with a new shirt. He goes to Airich's room at Elspeth's suggestion to sit with the patient.
49	Jerusha	Sept 5	Edwin returns and reports that Canon Damian can't offer the women into the University library, but he can let them research in the cathedral library. The three of them head out at once.
50	Jerusha	Sept 5	A monk runs to Canon Damian, worried about Elspeth's eyes. Damian reassures the man Elspeth comes with good credentials. Meanwhile, Elspeth reassures Edwin she is perfectly capable of reading Latin and they spend the afternoon looking for talacil clues. Amy finds a cryptic note about dampening the effects of the cursed drug. The three go to dinner and dine upon meat rolls.
51	Nezz3	Sept 5	Elspeth thinks to check her patient and the three head up to his room. Airich, looking surprisingly healed, sees her eyes for the first time and falls over himself in surprise, and apologizes profusely. He swears on his sword to perform a task for her and she just wants to check the progress of his wounds.
52	Laurna3	Sept 5	Amy notices Airich's shirt on an embroidery hoop and recognizes it as extraordinary, even as she doesn't understand that it's magic. She asks if Airich is a healer, but he hands her his handkerchief and she is terrified by the voice she hears singing in her head. She drops the handkerchief.
53	Marc3	Sept 5	Bede keeps the handkerchief from falling onto his painting and asks about its healing properties. He is concerned it might have some magical hold on Amy but doesn't sense anything out of the ordinary. He hands it to Edwin to have a look.
54	Jerusha3	Sept 5	Elspeth demands everyone leave the room so she can inspect her patient in peace. Afterwards, she goes to Amy and apologizes and asks Amy to tell her what upset her.
55	Laurna	Sept 5	Amy tells Elspeth about how she heard the handkerchief singing, and is surprised Elspeth didn't hear it when she'd touched it. They wonder which girlfriend of the knight gave that to him.
56	Revanne	Sept 5	Edwin is thinking about earlier that day and the fact that he'd made confession to Canon Damian about the girl he'd messed about with over the summer. The canon had given Edwin the task of watching over Elspeth and Amy as penance, for as long as the girls stayed in Grecotha.
57	Marc	Sept 6	Bede gives Elspeth and Amy a false tale about his history with Muirea, asking if he can take her with them when they leave Grecotha, on account of Jasper's unwanted intentions toward her. Muirea passes along the coin Airich left for Elspeth as payment for her service before he checked out of the inn earlier that morning.
58	Nezz	Sept 6	Airich has stopped by the library one last time on his way out of Grecotha, but hadn't found the information he was looking over. He overhears some students talking in hushed tones about burning a Deryni at the stake. He spies on them, using Deryni powers, discovers that they're serious, and decides that it's time for him to get out of town. But then he thinks about the group he left behind at the inn and decides they deserve a warning.
59	Bynw	Sept 6	A Brother Philip fetches Elspeth and the rest of the group to Canon Damian. He brings them to the infirmary where lies a boy who has been beaten nearly beyond healing. His robes are pinned with a note referencing the Statutes of Ramos.

60	Jerusha4	Sept 6	Brother Philip leads the group to the infirmary. Elspeth and Amy immediately begin working on the unconscious student. Edwin nabs the scrap of paper that was pinned to the boy, and thinks about his own Deryniness. He passes the note to Airich, who also realizes the boy is probably Deryni. Airich warns Amy about the boy's shields, but she's already used her Empathy on him. Bede shows Edwin and Airich a paper with a warning to Deryni he'd found earlier that day. Bede thinks about the Abbess at the Carbury infirmary, who'd Healed him some years ago. Airich tells the others about the boys in the courtyard.
61	Bynw	Sept 6	Another boy is brought in, but he didn't survive his beating. The warning pinned to his robes gave a warning that Human friends of the Deryni would face the same punishment.
62	Nezz	Sept 6	Airich thanks Edwin for his help in the brawl the other night. The dead boy is brought in. Elspeth informs Brother Philip that she will speak with Canon Damian. She brings Edwin and Bede with her. Airich tries to say comforting things to Amy but she wants action. She insists on knowing if he's Deryni and when he finally admits such, she demands he find out from the boy who did this to him.
63	Marc	Sept 6	Brother Philips brings Elspeth, Edwin, and Bede to the Canon's office through the large building. There is talk, and Bede has a plan which Edwin refuses to participate in.
64	Laurna	Sept 6	Elspeth asks the Canon to tell them what they are facing and how they can help. She sees the note that reads how Humans defending Deryni will meet the same fate. She is concerned this will cause panic among the students, and compares the students' likely fear to her own fear of being declared a witch. Edwin agrees. Damian tells her about how "the Deryni question" started becoming more heated than usual at the beginning of last term. Elspeth tells him the boys will search out the responsible parties, and meanwhile the girls will care for the injured.
65	Laurna5	Sept 6	Airich and Amy go into Rapport with the wounded boy and Amy discovers that she is indeed Deryni. The feeling reminds her of a man from years in her past, and Airich recognizes the man as "Wash." Airich communicates with the boy and discovers his name is Robert and the dead boy is Alfie. Airich sees where the boys were attacked and understands what they were doing, but Robert doesn't recognize any of them. Before they leave Rapport, Amy shows Airich the memory of her knight from years ago, and when they finally return to the world, he tells her that her knight is still alive.
66	Bynw	Sept 6	Brother Philip gives each of the five members of the group a warrant allowing them to investigate the assault and death of these students. An edict is also going out putting the city under martial law and forbidding anyone from carrying unsecured weapons or meeting in large groups.
67	Revanne	Sept 6	Edwin resists giving in to his fear of being caught and killed as a Deryni. He tells Elspeth that she should have shown more deference to Canon Damian and Elspeth tells him off.
68	Laurna	Sept 6	Elspeth is surprised to return and find Airich sitting close to Amy with his arm around her. Amy jumps up, crying about how "he lives." Airich is vague about what happened. Elspeth puts Amy onto a spare cot to sleep, just as Brother Philip brings them their warrantees.
69	Nezz4	Sept 6	Edwin is freaking out and asks the Canon why the Bishop picked them; the Canon says it's because of the women's medical background and the guys' willingness to get involved. Elspeth asks for lodgings for the group. Airich returns to the other room, mentioning that he will sit with Robert Thorne and that the other boy is Alfred Meadows: no one else knew these names. Damian tells Bede that his misdeeds of the past might be cleared up if he behaves. Edwin leaves to find them a boarding house. Elspeth asks Airich how he knows Robert's name, and he confesses to her his Deryniness. Robert wakes up then and Elspeth ministers to him. A novice brings a tray of food for them. Bede offers to begin searching for clues and Elspeth informs the men they are all going out in the morning.
70	Marc	Sept 6	Bede goes to see Muirea and concocts a plan to keep Jasper away from her. He disguises her as the ghost of her dead sister (Jasper's late wife) and she goes to Jasper's house and "haunts" him, warning him away from Muirea. He seems terrified and the plan seems to have worked.
71	Nezz6	Sept 6	Airich tells Amy the story of her knight, including his name and background. Hearing the story sets her heart free from him at last.
72	Revanne1	Sept 6	Edwin considers running home to Culdi with tail tucked between his legs. He confesses to Elspeth how scared he is. They finds a scrap of parchment in Robert's cotte and Edwin determines it's part of an initiation test and possibly part of the trap that the boys fell into.
73	Marc7	Sept 6	Airich loans Edwin his magical protective shirt. Bede swaps Edwin's knife for his own dagger. The three ride out towards a windmill, based on Edwin's clue. Bede and Edwin sound like they might be making friends with each other.
74	Bynw	Sept 6	A man prepares  himself to be coronated King of Gwynedd and end the false line of Deryni kings. Hundreds of people witness this event.

75	Nezz	Sept 7	Airich, Bede, and Edwin arrive at the windmill and search. Airich casts about to read for psychic impressions and witnesses the attack on Robert and Alfie. On their way to their next stop, Airich realizes that Edwin is Deryni and lets Edwin know that he is also Deryni. Bede guesses the truth of this as well.
76	Jerusha	Sept 7	Amy thinks about her home and where her heart lay while Elspeth went with the novice to gather their gear and check out from the King's Arm Inn. Amy is concerned about Robert's shattered hand and tries to heal it, but fails.
77	Nezz	Sept 7	Elspeth and Amy go to the University library, where their warrants now allow them to go. Elspeth is impressed. The begin researching the Willimites as well and reviewing medical texts. The rector informs them that a novice has been reading about the Willimites. They find the full recipe for talicil.
78	Marc	Sept 7	A page comes to "Master Feyd," insisting the council demanded he be notified immediately. He reads that "they" have crowned a king, and tells the page to inform the council that he will deal with this personally.
79	Marc	Sept 7	The three men are led to the place where Alfie was found. Bede finds a pair a green eyeglasses. Edwin thinks he knows who owns such a distinctive air.
80	Revanne	Sept 7	Once back in the infirmary, Edwin is playing with his dice and Airich recognizes them as Wards Major. Airich teaches Edwin how to use them properly, and, after several failures, Edwin is finally able to successfully create a protective ward.
81	Laurna	Sept 7	Amy is pleased that the two women were able to go into the library but Elspeth is still concerned by the time it might take to create the talicil, and how little they had left before Robert's hand would have to be removed due to its infection.
82	Nezz	Sept 7	Airich is Mind-speaking with Robert when Elspeth comes to inspect the boy while Amy feeds him soup. Elspeth and Edwin go in search of the herbalist. Airich has an idea for saving Robert's hand.
83	Nezz	Sept 7	Bede guards the door. Edwin sets wards.
84	Laurna7	Sept 7	Airich and Amy go into Deep Rapport and really bond with each other. They use their Deryni powers to move the bones in Robert's hand into the correct position so that his hand will heal properly. They show Elspeth where to lance the hand and drain the infection.
85	Jerusha	Sept 7	Elspeth stays at the infirmary late into the night, watching over Robert. She relfects back on the procedures the Deryni had performed, and the fact that she hadn't been alarmed when Airich Mind-spoke with her. She considered how to use Deryni in the future with her medical practice, but reconsidered, considering how much she's been avoiding the very hint of witchcraft in her life.
86	Marc	Sept 7	Eustace is hanging out at the Drunken Parchment tavern. He speaks with Muirea, who he learns has taken a second job at this tavern. She mentions his green eyeglasses. Eustace makes an unpleasant reference to Deryni.
87	Nezz8	Sept 7	Amy wakes up from a horrible nightmare and realizes that it was Airich's dream she'd picked up on. She rushes to his room to try to wake him up, but he still seems incoherent and a little bit lost. He doesn't seem to know who he is. He hugs her, almost without realizing what he's doing or with who.
88	Laurna7	Sept 7	Amy is afraid that Airich senses some danger that no one else can detect, but she can find nothing when she casts out. She kisses him to wake him up, and it works, but the kiss gets intense very quickly. Amy disengages and asks him about the dream, but changes the subject. She stays to ase his headache and help him back to sleep.
89	Laurna	Sept 7	Washburn Morgan and his pregnant wife Fiona come to the Arx Fidei Abbey with a small escort, led by his friend Kevin McLain. He references a danger to the kingdom. He will be meeting with Collos Feyd d'Chameaux, a Master of the Black Order of Death.

90	Bynw	Sept 8	Feyd introduces Father Malcom to Wash and tells him that the Custodes have crowned a King in Exile. They needs Wash to help infiltrate the Custodes.
91	Laurna	Sept 8	Wash introduces his wife and his second. He points out to Feyd that he will never join the Order of Black Death, but is willing to consider a case-by-case trade for information.
92	Bynw	Sept 8	Feyd asks that Wash block Father Malcolm while Feyd links with them psychically.
93	Laurna	Sept 8	Wash refuses to allow Feyd to link with him, and begins to walk away.
94	Bynw	Sept 8	Feyd asks that Wash allow Feyd to link with Father Malcolm while Wash blocks him.
95	Laurna	Sept 8	Wash agrees to this on the condition that Fiona can also stay in the link and watch over everything. He performs the procedure.
96	Bynw	Sept 8	Feyd thanks Wash and offers his hand.
97	Laurna	Sept 8	After a certain deliberation, Wash accepts Feyd's hand.
98	Bynw	Sept 8	Feyd and Father Malcolm leave.
99	Marc	Sept 8	Bede heads for Mass, leaving an exhausted Elspeth behind. He wakes up Edwin and borrows a pomander for the smell, tries to wake up Airich but there is no answer at the door. He escorts Amy to mass, then finds Brother Philip so he could be shriven. He confesses to murder to escape being shanghaied by a group of sailors. He admits that his old wounds still hurt sometimes. Brother Philip gives him absolution.
100	Revanne	Sept 8	Edwin goes to Mass.
101	Jerusha	Sept 8	Elspeth tends to Robert, who seems improved. She goes to the boarding house. Edwin agrees to write letters for them.
102	Revanne	Sept 8	Edwin finishes Elspeth's letter, then Bede escorts Elspeth to a later Mass. Amy and Edwin talk about being Deryni. He sings to her the Healing Song and she joins in.
103	Marc	Sept 8	Bede returns with Muirea in tow. He come to Amy to make amends for the lies he's told her.
104	Laurna	Sept 8	Elspeth checks on Robert and returns to the boarding house. Amy says that she has taken a job at the Drunken Parchment tavern, to make extra money and listen in on the students' conversations and see if she can pick up any clues about Willimites.

105	Nezz	Sept 8	Airich is finishing up a day of fasting, prayer, and meditation. He is concerned because he'd nearly lost himself the night before, but Amy had returned him to reality. He considers how she's done similar things for other patients of hers, and thinks about how he's been looking for Wash to turn Airich Human, or researching ways to do it himself: to no avail. He thinks about bringing Amy to Rhemuth for proper Deryni training, and how satisfying their Rapport had been, but it shouldn't ever be repeated because all this Deryni stuff is messing with his mind. As he decides to go to sleep, he thinks about preparing Morgan's horses in the morning.
106	Laurna	Sept 9	Amy stops at Airich's room before dawn to check on him and reminds him of who he is while he sleeps.
107	Bynw	Sept 9	A man dies at the stake in a fire and lets out a psychic scream as he dies.
108	Laurna	Sept 9	Amy and Edwin are both awakened by the psychic cry and both are alarmed, for neither understands it. They share the scream with Airich (who'd been sleeping with Shields up). He and Bede go out to scout around.
109	Marc	Sept 9	Bede and Airich find the bonfire and help put it out. Bede gets the body down and brings it to Airich.
110	Jerusha	Sept 9	Amy links with Edwin and sends him to follow the other men so that she can see what's going on and report to Elspeth and Muirea.
111	Nezz	Sept 9	Airich does a Death Reading on the man, and fiinds out his name is Lucas Whittington, aka "Leopold the Great."
112	Revanne9	Sept 9	Edwin approaches the fire and someone call out a threat to all Deryni.
113	Marc	Sept 9	BEdwin goads the man into identifying himself within the crowd and Bede nabs him.
114	Nezz	Sept 9	Airich intimidates the man into giving them his name and the name of his contact with the Willimites: Pietre de Guerra.

116	Laurna	Sept 9	Amy, seeing through Edwin's eyes, sees two students homing in on Edwin and calls on Airich to assist. Edwin recognizes the student as a fraternity brother, and takes the other men to talk to their leader.
117	Revanne11	Sept 9	As they're walking, Edwin tells them that the fraternity leader had summoned some students to be questioned by the investigators. He also tells what he knows about Pietre de Guerra, the son of the magistrate and the university's fencing master.
118	Jerusha12	Sept 9	Amy watches the men interrogate two students, and relays what she sees and hears to the other women.
119	Marc13	Sept 9	Bede leads the interrogation of Eddard de Nore. Eddard misunderstands one of Bede's statements and thinks he's Deryni, and goes after him with a knife. He is properly subdued by the men.
