[16:23] <RainbowDragon> Greetings KK!
[16:23] <Shiral> Hello Katherine
[16:23] <Wrengl> hi shiral
[16:23] <Shiral> o)
[16:23] <Shiral> =o), I meant
[16:23] <KK> Hello, all!
[16:23] <Tika> heya KK :)
[16:23] <RainbowDragon> How have you been?
[16:23] <Shiral> How goes the House Stuff?
[16:23] <Bynw> Hiyas KK
[16:23] * ambush tackle-pounces kk
[16:23] <KK> Busy! The house officially goes on the market on
Thursday.
[16:24] <RainbowDragon> good good!
[16:24] <Mistyck> very cool!
[16:24] <Shiral> Have you found an alternative nest to buy?
[16:24] <Wrengl> great about the house
[16:24] <KK> And the copy-edited manuscript of Childe Morgan arrives
tomorrow, and must be back by mid-June. Gak! Great timing!
[16:25] <Wrengl> indeed
[16:25] <KK> Not yet.
[16:25] <Shiral> Gak, that's a quick turnaround
[16:25] <KK> We have some possibilities, but nothing definite yet.
[16:25] <Wrengl> good luck on the house hunting
[16:26] <Wrengl> staying in Ireland?
[16:26] <Shiral> Hope you find a place before someone buys Holybrooke
out from under you. Hard to write in the road. =o)

[16:26] <DeryniBot> Hi there the_Bee! Welcome to the chat.
[16:26] <KK> They usually allow about three weeks, so this is on
target.
[16:27] <RainbowDragon> Hi, Bee
[16:27] <Wrengl> hi bee
[16:27] <Shiral> Hello Bee
[16:27] <KK> Even once it sells, we'll have at least 30 days before the
sale is completed.
[16:27] <the_Bee> hi pat and rd. hello KK
[16:27] <KK> Yes, we're staying in Ireland.
[16:28] <Wrengl> by the way, lbarms says hello to everyone
[16:28] <Shiral> Hello back to Laura
[16:28] <KK> How and where is she?
[16:28] <Wrengl> i shall tell her
[16:28] <Wrengl> pretty busy
[16:28] <jemler> hi there, KK, Bee, Shiral
[16:28] <Shiral> Hi Jemler
[16:29] <KK> So, is everyone having a good Memorial Day weekend?
[16:29] <Mistyck> so far yes
[16:29] <Shiral> Pretty tame, but pleasant enough
[16:29] <the_Bee> a fairly normal day for me.
[16:29] <Wrengl> she says: Things are OK here. I had my first day off
since returning from Emergency leave on the 19th of April. It was nice
to just relax for a day. Give my greetings to the newsgroup for me.
[16:29] <Wrengl> warm but nice
[16:29] <jemler> nice and warm here
[16:30] <KK> Do we know why she was on Emergency Leave?
[16:30] <Wrengl> made fried chicken last night with potato salad and
broccali slaw
[16:30] <the_Bee> an that put laura on emergency leave?
[16:30] <Wrengl> grilling chicken thighs tonight that i parinated in a
Jamaican garlic sauce and stones ginger wine
[16:30] <KK> Broccoli slaw? As in, you shred broccoli?
[16:30] <Shiral> It must have been the Broccoli slaw that necessitated
the emergency leave
[16:30] <jemler> No comment on that one, Wrengl
[16:31] <Wrengl> yup although it comes in a package, we could not find
pre-shredded cabbage
[16:31] <the_Bee> I once had a recipe for chicken with garlic and
sherry
[16:31] <Wrengl> laura's brother died suddenly
[16:31] <the_Bee> ah :(
[16:31] <Shiral> Oh dear, that's awful!
[16:31] <Tika> :(
[16:32] <Mistyck> oh no!
[16:32] <Wrengl> and i believe she had gone home because of death of
father in law and then they found her brother
[16:32] <Mistyck> oh my god!
[16:32] <KK> We had rack of lamb with lots of garlic rubbed all over,
for dinner tonight--a special treat. It was yummy!
[16:32] <Wrengl> so the emergency leave was extended
[16:32] <jemler> Sounds like my family.
[16:32] <KK> Good heavens, poor Laura!
[16:32] <Wrengl> that sounds good katherine
[16:32] <Shiral> Poor Laura indeed. A double Whammy
[16:32] <Bynw> that sounds yummy KK ... need to have some of that

[16:33] <ambush> crap keyboard here
[16:33] <Shiral> Hi Slobbit
[16:33] <Wrengl> hi slobbit
[16:33] <ambush> not gonna talk much
[16:34] <Wrengl> poor ambush
[16:34] <Shiral> You need to ambush a new keyboard, Ambush
[16:34] <Tika> lol
[16:34] <Wrengl> lol
[16:34] <Wrengl> but indeed you do
[16:34] <ambush> lol
[16:34] <Martine> Urgh..... full frontal kitty attack on lap.......
[16:34] <Wrengl> lol
[16:35] <KK> Which one, Martine?
[16:35] <the_Bee> if we develop our deryni mind powers we won't need
keyboards ;)
[16:35] <jemler> ambush, you get a new keyboard, I'll learn to type!
[16:35] <Wrengl> we have rehomed violet and two of the babies
[16:35] <Martine> Rowena, of course. Ms Velcro.
[16:35] <Wrengl> lol jemler
[16:35] <Wrengl> and locket ran away
[16:35] <KK> Violet was which one?
[16:35] <Wrengl> one of the charmed ones
[16:35] <jemler> KK Violet was the purple one!
[16:36] <Martine> lol
[16:36] <Wrengl> as was locket but he is not a nice kitty at all
[16:36] <the_Bee> I never saw a purple cat...
[16:36] <Wrengl> she and scarlett are solid black
[16:36] <Shiral> Purple Tabby--Very rare breed
[16:36] <Wrengl> they were named for the kitty collars we bought for
them
[16:36] <Martine> Not that rare, Shiral. Rowena fits that description
when she decides it's naptime on my stamping ink pads!
[16:37] <Wrengl> scarlett go out of hers immediately but violet kept
hers on for months
[16:37] <KK> Well, I hope they went to good homes--not that you would
allow them to go anywhere else. Maybe they'll be happier there.
[16:37] <ambush> lol
[16:37] <Wrengl> probably
[16:37] <Wrengl> and fewer cats means less chaos in the house
[16:37] <KK> So, how many are you down to now?
[16:37] <Shiral> Tell me about it, Martine. My paint pallette has
little cat hairs stuck in all the little paint compartments
[16:37] * Bynw wishes he had some chaos
[16:37] <Wrengl> i may even be able to put things back in the pantry so
i can get at canned and jared goods!
[16:38] <Shiral> If a Painting doesn't have a cat hair on it, it ain't
a Houle
[16:38] <KK> lol
[16:38] <Wrengl> four downstairs one on second floor and four on third
[16:38] <KK> Wrengl, I take it that your cats nest on the shelves?
[16:38] <Wrengl> although we would like to find homes for madam and
scarlett also
[16:38] <Wrengl> yup
[16:38] <Martine> LOL Shiral! Just remember... in the crafting world,
fur is a fiber!
[16:38] <Shiral> Even two cats can fill an apartment
[16:38] <the_Bee> do you ever intentionally work the cat hairs into the
design?
[16:39] <jemler> Try Tara for Scarlett, if you can find someone to give
a damn :)
[16:39] <Shiral> Nina and Francesca have battles and chase each other
around the whole apartment on a daily basis
[16:39] <Wrengl> this is true shiral
[16:39] <Wrengl> lol jemler
[16:39] <jemler> Someone got it huh? Poor joke!
[16:39] <slobbit> we're blaming our cat for the unexpected failure of
our shower curtain rod yesterday
[16:39] <slobbit> it's a complete loss . . .
[16:40] <Shiral> I think upon reflection that bringing a pregnant
teenage cat into Pan's later life must have been very stressful for the
poor old dear
[16:40] <Wrengl> the big problem is that frankie (baby huey) flies
around and he is big and less than graceful
[16:40] <jemler> Are you sure it wasn't Norman Bates?
[16:40] <KK> Oh, dear! Been there, done that--or coped with that.
[16:40] <slobbit> the cat had that air of culpability about him
[16:40] <slobbit> Norman acted innocent enough
[16:40] <Wrengl> lol slobbit
[16:40] <KK> Actually, Shiral, a young cat can and usually does add
years to an older cat's life; recharges them.
[16:41] <Wrengl> yes it does
[16:41] <Shiral> yes, kk
[16:41] <Shiral> And I think Pan did sometimes like the company
[16:41] <Wrengl> once he got used to the youngsters i am sure life was
more interesting for him.
[16:41] <slobbit> even tho they might detract from the owners'
[16:41] <Shiral> But Nina bullied him--there's no way to sugarcoat that
one. =o)
[16:41] <Bynw> i think a young cat can add years to an older dog's life
too
[16:41] <KK> And I'm sure that Unca Pan enjoyed having the two young
ladies around him in his last months.
[16:41] <Martine> LOL! I think Rowena must have been secretly tutoring
Nina.
[16:41] <jemler> I would
[16:42] <Bynw> which is why Neko is still at my mom's house taking care
of her and Peaches
[16:42] <Shiral> Francesca was more sedate company for him, and they
did like cuddling up together in the cold
[16:42] <Shiral> But NIna pestered Unka Pan
[16:42] <KK> Nothing like another cat to help warm an old cat's bones.
[16:42] <Wrengl> well see he had a friend in francesca
[16:43] <KK> Kittens always pester older cats.
[16:43] <Shiral> This is true
[16:43] <Shiral> I was quite a sight this past winter-- me on the sofa
burried under three cats
[16:43] <Shiral> =o)
[16:44] <Martine> Aw! You should have had someone take a picture!
[16:44] <Bynw> must have been warm for you Shiral .... i liked being
burried under cats on a winter night
[16:44] <Shiral> Too late now, I guess. Ah well.
[16:44] <Martine> me too!
[16:44] <Shiral> I do too, Bynw. But it's a little easier under two
than three
[16:45] <Martine> Wish Rowena would stop the furry furnace act once the
mercury rises above 80, though! <pant pant>
[16:45] <jemler> I'll stick with Cindy Crawford!
[16:45] <Shiral> LOL, does she have fur?
[16:45] <Shiral> Katherine, how can you manage with six furry people
when the temperature drops?
[16:45] <jemler> No, but if you pet her just right, she purrs!
[16:45] <Martine> If she does, she sure has a heck of a wax job done!
[16:46] * Bynw knew that KK was coming to the chat today :o)
[16:46] <KK> We regularly have 2-3 cats on the bed at night; and we've
had as many as four.
[16:46] <Martine> Arwen's getting brave lately. There've been two
nights in the last month when she sneaked into our bedroom after Rowena
fell asleep and made a nest for herself on the dresser.
[16:47] <Shiral> Nina's an undercover type of cat
[16:47] <jemler> Are they sleeping in your bed, or are yuo sleeping in
theirs?
[16:47] <Shiral> But she's ruined some of my fitted sheets catching
bedmice
[16:47] <Martine> lol!
[16:47] <Martine> Jemler, that depends on whether you're looking at it
from the cat's or person's point of view!
[16:47] <Martine> brb, need to put dinner in oven
[16:47] <jemler> lol
[16:48] <Wrengl> she's sleeping in theirs of course
[16:48] <the_Bee> shiral: did you ever read the mystery novel
"Undercover Cat"?
[16:48] <Shiral> From the cat's point of view, everything belongs to
the cat
[16:48] <Shiral> No, I haven't Bee
[16:48] <KK> Arwen and Rowena in the same room, and by choice! It's a
miracle!
[16:48] <the_Bee> It's hilarious!
[16:49] <KK> I'm presently reading a book on Cathedral Cats--a photo
book about cats who live in and around some of the best cathedrals in
the UK.
[16:49] <Martine> back
[16:49] <the_Bee> church cats to catch church mice?
[16:49] <RainbowDragon> There are cats which actually live in
cathedrals?
[16:49] <KK> It's quite well written, as well as being very well
photographed.
[16:50] <Shiral> And who appreciate the magnificence of their setting,
I'm sure
[16:50] <Martine> It was, KK! And she's tried it again!
[16:50] <KK> They do, indeed.
[16:50] <Martine> Though Rowena catches her more often than not, and
then it's all over.
[16:50] <Wrengl> poor arwen
[16:50] <KK> Sounds like Arwen is developing some backbone--and really
wants to be with her humans at night.
[16:50] <Wrengl> have you started on high deryni yet katherine?
[16:51] <Shiral> Interestingly enough, Nina is turning into the
dominant cat. I keep telling Francesca she needs to keep her kitten
under a firm paw, but it doesn't help, much!
[16:51] <Martine> Arwen hasn't developed much backbone - she still cows
to Rowena every time. She's just gotten more desperate for company, I
think.
[16:51] <KK> I'm about a quarter of the way through, but haven't picked
it up all month, since I got back from the States.

[16:51] <the_Bee> hi debbie
[16:51] <Debbie-VB> hi katherine!!!!!!
[16:51] <Shiral> Hi Debbie
[16:52] <Martine> Nina sounds like she's turning into a little Rowena.
They must be secretly communicating....
[16:52] <Debbie-VB> Hi everyone
[16:52] <KK> hi, deb.
[16:52] <RainbowDragon> Hi, Debbie
[16:52] <Martine> hi Debbie
[16:52] <Shiral> Yup, With little Kitty Chat devices <G>
[16:53] <KK> I wonder if those require a full moon....
[16:53] <Martine> Nope, just telepathy <g>
[16:53] <Shiral> It helps if you do it at the full moon on Midsummer's
Eve, though
[16:53] <KK> Well, that's coming up soon....
[16:53] <Martine> When they have that far-off stare that looks right
through you. That's when they must be conversing.
[16:53] <the_Bee> I'd think a cat would function well under the dark of
the moon--when hecate/witchcraft in in power
[16:54] <Shiral> If cats can live near cathedrals, why not near
neolithic standing stones? =o)
[16:54] <Martine> Cats will live anywhere that it suits them.
[16:55] <jemler> Like CatMandu? <heh>
[16:55] <KK> Well, of course they can and do, Shiral.
[16:55] <Shiral> Francesca's just staring at me now, and I can easily
see what she's trying to commuicate
[16:55] <RainbowDragon> there must be sunlit spots though... and at
least one high perch
[16:55] <Martine> Like an overheating lap on a hot summery day....
<take the HINT, Rowena!>
[16:55] <Martine> LOL Shiral! Let me guess..... feed me?
[16:55] <KK> Is it a hot, summery day today in NJ?
[16:55] <Shiral> Wow, she's really transmitting clearly, Martine!
[16:55] <Debbie-VB> either that or pay attention to ME, not that screen
[16:55] <Shiral> Since it's getting all the way to NJ
[16:55] <Martine> Sure is. Went from 60s to a brief 2-day stint in 70s,
and now 85.
[16:55] <Wrengl> it is a warm summery day in brooklyn today
[16:55] <Martine> And humid.
[16:55] <Shiral> A little of both, Debbie
[16:56] <KK> yuck!
[16:56] <Wrengl> yup humid
[16:56] <KK> It was gorgeous here today.
[16:56] <RainbowDragon> It made it to the low 90's in Missouri
[16:56] <Shiral> This is spring--don't blink you might miss it
[16:56] <Wrengl> i made sure to be finished my walk before ten this
morning
[16:56] <Martine> It's like Memorial Day Weekend came and summer
suddenly turned on!
[16:56] <KK> yuck!
[16:56] <Shiral> It's windy and in the low 70's on the West Coast where
I am
[16:56] <Wrengl> i am back to walking, albeit not the distance I was
before the white cell crash
[16:56] <Martine> You tease, Shiral!
[16:56] <Mistyck> cloudy and warm on the gulf coast
[16:56] <Shiral> I know, sorry
[16:57] <the_Bee> is your white count better, pat?
[16:57] <jemler> Warm in Ohio, not humid at all.
[16:57] <Shiral> (But not VERY sorry....)
[16:57] <Wrengl> yes
[16:57] <Debbie-VB> we had a lovely week until victoria day weekend
then It suddenly went back to being the we(s)t coast here
[16:57] <Martine> John and I have been talking about hiking in New York
state tomorrow. I think we'll end up doing more strolling until we get
used to the weather :)
[16:57] <Wrengl> it seems to be around normal
[16:57] <the_Bee> :)
[16:57] <Wrengl> next blood test is on 5 June for chemo on 7 june
[16:57] <slobbit> good luck, Wrengl
[16:57] <jemler> Good luck, Wrengl!
[16:58] <Shiral> GOod luck, Pat
[16:58] * Debbie-VB sends wrengle some good-blood-test woodgies
[16:58] <Shiral> Tell those white cell counts to behave
[16:58] <Martine> Yeah, what Shiral said!
[16:58] <jemler> copycat
[16:58] <Wrengl> thanks all
[16:58] <Shiral> Mrraow
[16:58] * Martine scritches Shiral behind the ears to see what happens
[16:59] <Shiral> Martine, what is a hike if not a very long stroll?
[16:59] <jemler> here kitty kitty kity....
[16:59] <Wrengl> actually this new drug (taxol) seems to be doing okay
with me
[16:59] <KK> Excellent!
[16:59] <Mistyck> good to hear that Pat
[16:59] <Martine> LOL! A hike at a much slower, more leisurely pace, of
course! :-)
[16:59] * Shiral flops down on the floor and presents a scratchable
tummy
[16:59] <the_Bee> is that the one made from yew?
[16:59] <Wrengl> and I even have some fuzz on my hair although
oncologist said i waould lose what little i had
[16:59] <KK> Just so long as it's baaaaad for the cancer cells!
[16:59] <Shiral> It's all in the attitude.
[16:59] <Wrengl> indeed
[16:59] * jemler scratches Shirals' tummy...
[17:00] <Shiral> Tell me I'm going on a stroll, and I'll come quite
willingly. Say the "H-word" and I'll come down with any ailment I can
think of to avoid it.
[17:00] <Wrengl> i will find out in july when i see the gynocologist
for my three month check up
[17:00] * Shiral purrs and drools
[17:00] <Debbie-VB> I've got lots of extra hair Pat. You can have some
of mine if you want
[17:00] <Martine> lol shiral!
[17:00] <Wrengl> lol shiral
[17:00] <Martine> But the scenery is worth it! We're hiking the grounds
at Mohonk Mountain House!
[17:00] * jemler keeps scratching...
[17:00] <Wrengl> some days I walk fairly fast and somedays it is just a
stroll
[17:01] <Shiral> Everytime I have a session with Francesca, she drools
absolute rivers to show her pleasure
[17:01] <Martine> Of Rakovian mayhem "Mahican" inspiration fame :-)
[17:01] <Wrengl> then i feel like I have failed somehow.
[17:01] <Martine> LOL! Sounds like you need to keep a towel handy,
Shiral!

[17:01] <jemler> hey dov
[17:01] <RainbowDragon> Greetings, Dov

[17:01] <Dov> Welcome, Katherine
[17:02] <Wrengl> but i made 2.5 miles this morning
[17:02] <Debbie-VB> hi dov
[17:02] <Shiral> I'm sure you're doing more than I would be donig

[17:02] <Wrengl> besides I sleep better and feel better when I do a
good walk
[17:03] <KK> Strolls are good. Thursday after the crew had left, Scott
and I piled into the Morgan with Oswald in the back seat, and drove
down to the seafront for an ice cream and a stroll on the beach.
Oswald got a cone too, but in a cup--and daintily lapped up every
smidgen. He then proceeded to exhaust himself by happily running up
and down the beach--and collapsed in a heap after dinner, snoring
magnificently. I think he loved it.
[17:03] <jemler> Shiral, you're a bellydancer?
[17:03] <Shiral> And it must be good for the spirits, too
[17:03] <Shiral> Umm... not as such, Jemler
[17:03] <Debbie-VB> I found some bellydance fitness DVDs recently.
It';s kind of fun, but very hard work
[17:03] <Wrengl> i am sure he did katherine
[17:03] <Martine> that sounds like a doggy heaven daytrip, Katherine!
[17:03] <Shiral> I put a fitness DVD in my player and follow along with
two smiling, Sadistic ladies named Veena and Neena
[17:03] <Wrengl> it is good for the spirits
[17:03] <Shiral> But their bodies don't lie
[17:04] <Wrengl> lol
[17:04] <Shiral> It's been very good for shrinking my spare tire
[17:04] <KK> Yep. He hadn't been to the beach since his accident, or
without Scrappy, so he loved it.
[17:04] <Wrengl> most of the belly dancers i know are large women, like
bambi and sometimes bigger
[17:04] <Shiral> Sounds like an Ideal day for Oswald, KK <G>
[17:04] <Shiral> Out for a run with his Humans!
[17:04] <Martine> And now that's made me want to run for ice cream! <g>
[17:04] <Wrengl> yes it does sound like he had a great time
[17:04] <KK> He ran; we strolled. :-)
[17:04] <Wrengl> and ice cream too
[17:04] <Shiral> Sit, Martine
[17:05] <Martine> Yes, ma'am!
[17:05] <Wrengl> lol martine
[17:05] <Samuel> bellydance was originally a way for women to
strengthen their pelvic muscles to get ready for childbirth.
[17:05] <Shiral> No doubt the beach was very exciting and smelly for
him
[17:05] <Wrengl> very true sam
[17:05] <KK> Good on ya, Shiral!
[17:05] <the_Bee> so i've heard
[17:05] <Debbie-VB> so I understand Samuel
[17:05] <Shiral> Nothing so fecund for me, Sam
[17:05] <Dov> any leads on the house search, katherine?
[17:05] <Wrengl> and bambi is a very good belly dancer
[17:05] <Martine> oven beeped! brb
[17:05] <Shiral> But after doing it since January, I do notice a
difference
[17:05] <Wrengl> i have seen her perform
[17:05] <Debbie-VB> even though childbirth probably won't happen to me
[17:05] <Shiral> But I do NOT put on anything revealing while I do it
<G>
[17:06] <jemler> Who's Bambi?
[17:06] <KK> He found a particularly intriguing piece of driftwood that
he carried around for about 5 min., stopping occasionally to chew on
it.
[17:06] <Wrengl> Martine, let me know if you find blue bunny ice cream
in any supermarket by you
[17:06] <Debbie-VB> Blue Bunny Ice Cream????
[17:06] <Wrengl> bambi is someone who comes to darkover, jemler, and is
in SCA
[17:06] <Shiral> I didn't know how much tension I had in my shoulders
until I had to learn to wiggle them around rapidly
[17:06] <jemler> I've heard of dust bunnies, and Easter bunnies but Ice
Cream?
[17:06] <the_Bee> blueberry flavor? or bunny flavor? :)
[17:06] <Shiral> Now I can do a much better shoulder shimmy than I used
to be able to do
[17:07] <Bynw> blue bunny is a brand of ice cream sillys
[17:07] <Wrengl> blue bunny is the company and they have some
intriguing no sugar added flavours
[17:07] <Shiral> Blue Bunny---Is that Peep Ice Cream?
[17:07] <RainbowDragon> Nobody does a better shoulder shimmy than Pat
Benatar
[17:07] <Samuel> Dust bunny flavored blue bunny ice cream?
[17:07] <jemler> Are you sure it isn't Blue Bonnet?
[17:07] <Wrengl> yup
[17:07] <Wrengl> it is blue bunny
[17:07] <Bynw> RainbowDragon, very true
[17:07] * kelricwatchingspamalot is now known as Kelric
[17:07] <Dov> no there really is a blue bunny brand
[17:07] <Wrengl> blue bonnet does margarine
[17:07] <Wrengl> wb kelric
[17:08] <RainbowDragon> welcome back, Kelric
[17:08] <Bynw> blue bonnet is a different brand name
[17:08] <Wrengl> how was the show?
[17:08] <Shiral> Hip shimmies are very good for everything between the
waist and the knees
[17:08] <Shiral> Hi Kelric
[17:08] <KK> LOL, we really do get off on some--er--unusual
discussions. Myself, I prefer Moose Tracks.
[17:08] <jemler> Pat Benatar is Wrengls' real name, right?
[17:08] <Wrengl> i'm sure they are shiral
[17:08] <Dov> wb kelric
[17:08] <Debbie-VB> I'm not too good yet at hip shimmies
[17:08] <Wrengl> tee hee but no jemler
[17:08] <Kelric> lol rotfl lolsmIrotflmao
[17:08] <RainbowDragon> We discuss it all here. Don't we, KK? :-)
[17:08] <Shiral> But there are a LOT more ways to move one's hips than
I ever suspected before I started this!
[17:09] <KK> Yike, both Shiral and Dabbie are going belly dancing?
[17:09] <the_Bee> Is Hood Ice Cream available in the rest of the USA,
or it it mainly in New England?
[17:09] <Shiral> I don't GO anywhere, I do this in the privacy of my
livingroom!
[17:09] <jemler> Where do I put the dollar?
[17:09] <Martine> back!
[17:09] <Shiral> But if you can do bellydance fitness routines under
the scornful eyes of cats, then you've got something
[17:09] <Martine> How much floor space does the belly dancing routines
need?
[17:09] <Debbie-VB> with the drapes pulled so as to not scare the
neighbors
[17:09] <KK> In an envelope, Jemler, and then in the post, addressed to
Shiral--and another to Debbie!
[17:09] <Dov> :)
[17:09] <Bynw> jemler, no Pat Benatar is a female rocker who has been
called the Queen of Rock'n'Roll
[17:09] <Martine> rotfl shiral! isn't that the truth?
[17:09] <Shiral> Just throw 'em on the rug, Jemler. I'll rake up later!
[17:10] <Shiral> Not all that much
[17:10] <Kelric> Spamalot was great.
[17:10] <Kelric> if it comes to your town, watch it
[17:10] <Shiral> About the same area as the rug between my coffee table
and my tv
[17:10] <Martine> Oh perfect! That helps :-P
[17:10] <Debbie-VB> is that the play based on Monty Python and the Holy
Grais?
[17:10] <Kelric> I also bought a t-shirt with this on the front. "I'm
Not Dead Yet"
[17:10] <Dov> where were you watching it kelric?
[17:10] <Kelric> yep
[17:10] <Kelric> and it does it great
[17:11] <Debbie-VB> Grail
[17:11] <Martine> Hee hee Kelric. I've got the Spamalot soundtrack
downloaded to my cell phone for ring tones :-D
[17:11] <Kelric> Cadilacc Palace theater in Chi-Town
[17:11] <jemler> i hate spam! (courtesy of monty python)
[17:11] <Shiral> So Haldane Hash is a great kind of ice cream served at
Rhemuth Castle.
[17:12] * Shiral sort of steers conversation into Deryni channels
[17:12] <KK> And that would be made of...what ingredients, Shiral?
[17:12] <jemler> Don't forget Duncan Donuts!
[17:12] <Shiral> Don't know, never had any
[17:12] <Martine> Inquiring minds ... uh... sort of want to know?
[17:12] <Shiral> But I suspect some strawberries get into it
[17:12] <slobbit> oh, could they have ice cream?
[17:12] <the_Bee> nuts. chocolate? or is that american?
[17:12] <Martine> There must be honey, of course.
[17:12] <Shiral> Haldane scarlet you know
[17:13] <Shiral> Naturally
[17:13] <KK> Strawberries and honey--yes, those are period.
[17:13] <the_Bee> honey, nuts and cherries
[17:13] <Shiral> And cream
[17:13] <slobbit> my folks get to have snow-cones
[17:13] <Shiral> Sounds pretty good to me!
[17:13] <KK> And nuts--some nuts--would robably be ok.
[17:13] <Wrengl> hood is available in ny bee
[17:13] <Wrengl> as is friendlys
[17:13] <the_Bee> good!
[17:13] <Dov> well i have made the online recipe for shortbread
[17:13] <Shiral> Perhaps a bit of sweet Fianna wine
[17:13] <Shiral> Although that would be more of a sorbet, I suppose
[17:14] <KK> Shortbread cookie dough, perhaps?
[17:14] <Martine> Mmmmmmm!
[17:14] <Shiral> How was it, Dov?
[17:14] <KK> Cinnamon.
[17:14] <Dov> yummy
[17:14] <Martine> Oh yum! Cinnamon and honey!
[17:14] <Shiral> Jemler, LOL about the Duncan Donuts
[17:14] <the_Bee> ginger. Mu ex-boss told me about ginger ice cream
[17:14] <Shiral> He's got a nice figure for a man who makes donuts
[17:15] <Shiral> Oh, Ginger Ice cream is dangerous
[17:15] <the_Bee> ?
[17:15] <Shiral> That's what made me realize I need to bellydance it
off, again!
[17:15] <jemler> Makes 'em, doesn't eat 'em
[17:15] * KK makes a face at the very thought of ginger ice cream.
[17:15] <slobbit> oh, ginger snow-cones
[17:15] <Shiral> It's delicious, KK
[17:15] <Shiral> Really it is
[17:15] <Wrengl> ginger?
[17:15] <Shiral> yes
[17:16] <Shiral> Extremely good!
[17:16] <the_Bee> my boss didn't go for bland flavors
[17:16] <Debbie-VB> It would be, especially if made with candied
gigner.
[17:16] <Martine> Oh, it is very yum!
[17:16] * Bynw is a strawberry icecream type
[17:16] <Shiral> With a bit of shaved dark chocolate on top, Ginger Ice
Cream is FABULOUS!
[17:16] <Wrengl> strawberries are period
[17:16] <jemler> Strawberrirs on pancakes
[17:16] <Wrengl> they are in europe
[17:16] <Martine> I'm a cookie dough or dulce de leche girl :-)
[17:17] <KK> Hmmm, ruination of perfectly good ice cream, if you ask
me. (But then, I prefer to confine my ginger intake to ginger with
sushi or the occasional gingerbread man.)
[17:17] * Shiral can't really see the pont of Cinnamon Ice Cream,
however
[17:17] <the_Bee> Green Monster mint--a Hood Red-sox-themed flavor
[17:17] <Wrengl> cherry or strawberry if i can't have chocolate
[17:17] <Wrengl> candied ginger is good katherine
[17:17] * Shiral nails her feet to the floor so that SHE won't run to
Trader Joes for a Pint of Ginger Ice Cream
[17:17] <Wrengl> and ginger ice cream is great after a sushi dinner!
[17:18] <the_Bee> can someone name a slightly tart berry native to the
British Isles?
[17:18] <Wrengl> perhaps red currents?
[17:18] <the_Bee> preferably edible ;)
[17:18] <Wrengl> i know black ones are in england
[17:18] <KK> Or black currants.
[17:18] <Wrengl> i think red are tarter
[17:19] <KK> Raspberries.
[17:19] <Debbie-VB> Are not raspberries from the british isles?
[17:19] <Wrengl> true
[17:19] <KK> Yes. And here in Ireland, too.
[17:19] <jemler> I'll stick with the blackberries behind my
grandmothers house.
[17:19] <Shiral> Wild blackberries are fabulous
[17:19] <Wrengl> blackberries are good
[17:19] <KK> Bramble barries, too.
[17:19] <Martine> Our mulberry tree is starting to grow its berries.
Yay!
[17:19] <the_Bee> I was thinking black curerents. I'm thinking of
inventing a Caeriessean brakfast dish with berries, nots and barley
[17:19] <Debbie-VB> They can definitly be a bit tart.
[17:19] <jemler> Cream and sugar
[17:19] <Shiral> So is blackberry ice cream
[17:19] <Martine> They make great breakfast crepes in late June :)
[17:20] <Wrengl> lingonberries are tart also
[17:20] <Shiral> Lol, Martine, for a minute, I read that as "Breakfast
Creeps"
[17:20] <Martine> LOL! Only if the cats try to steal some cream
[17:20] <Wrengl> but i don't think they would grow in the caerissean
climate
[17:20] <Shiral> Lingonberry sauce is very good--tastes very like
cranberry sauce
[17:20] <the_Bee> John before his first cup of coffee?
[17:20] <KK> Soft fruit season is about to begin here! Soon there will
be roadside kiosks selling berries picked only that morning, first
strawberries, and later in the season, the raspberries.
[17:20] <Martine> not john, bee. me! <g>
[17:21] <Wrengl> more like cream and honey to be in period jemler
[17:21] <jemler> Who's talking period, I'm talking now!
[17:21] <Shiral> lol
[17:21] <Wrengl> strawberries have started in nj
[17:22] <Wrengl> and our couple of plants are producing one or two
every couple of days
[17:22] <Wrengl> bee was talking period
[17:22] * Debbie-VB recently found some yoghurt with saskatoon berries
[17:22] <Wrengl> never heard of them
[17:22] <KK> The first strawberries began to appear here, too, though
it seems just a tad early to me. But I saw a kiosk Friday, on the way
to and fron the bank....
[17:22] <Wrengl> have heard of juneberries, though
[17:23] <Shiral> Yup.... from Kim
[17:23] <Dov> *sigh* and i'm with peregrine on blueberry scones, which
i don't dare try to make--they wouldn't last a week in my house
[17:23] <Wrengl> but they only grow in north dakota
[17:23] <KK> What are saskatoon berries like?
[17:23] <Debbie-VB> same thing pat. their called saskatoons in Canada
[17:23] <Wrengl> they are very good
[17:23] <Wrengl> ah
[17:23] <the_Bee> same as what?
[17:23] <Wrengl> sakatoons are the same as june berries
[17:23] <the_Bee> ah
[17:23] <Wrengl> according to debbie
[17:23] <Martine> Dov, my weakness is the chocolate chip scones the
cafeteria at work makes every morning.
[17:23] <KK> Hmmm, I didn't really care for them.
[17:24] <KK> Chocolate chip scones, though--now there's a thought!
[17:24] * Debbie-VB never bakes scones. i
[17:25] <Dov> chocolate chip? that's dangerous! :)
[17:25] * Shiral tries not to bake
[17:25] <jemler> with chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce!
[17:25] <Shiral> My mom makes wicked good blue berry pancakes, though
[17:25] <Debbie-VB> They never last in my place, except around my
waistline
[17:25] <RainbowDragon> a scone is like a biscuit, right/
[17:25] <RainbowDragon> ?
[17:25] <Martine> they're verrra dangerous! and they're huge!
[17:25] <jemler> Jusy keep bellydancing, Deb
[17:25] <Martine> Sort of, RD. More sweet than buttery.
[17:26] <KK> Somewhat like a biscuit, RD, but sweet.
[17:26] <Dov> somewhere between a biscuit and a muffin
[17:26] <RainbowDragon> Ah, okay
[17:26] <Shiral> They go extrmely well with morning coffee
[17:26] <slobbit> it's a biscuit base, just add sugar
[17:26] <Martine> And fresh pineapple, which is how I usually have
mine!
[17:26] <Debbie-VB> they go extreemly well anytime
[17:26] <slobbit> I've got a recipie I could send you, RD
[17:26] <KK> They're usually sweet, but they do some nice cheese scones
some places.
[17:27] <slobbit> they've got yummy orange-glazed ones at Panera
[17:27] <Martine> Oh yes! Those are yum too!
[17:27] <RainbowDragon> cheese? hmmm
[17:27] <KK> Orange glazed scones? Those sound dangerous!
[17:27] <KK> Are you sure they're not muffins?
[17:27] <slobbit> everything at Panera is dangerous
[17:27] <slobbit> they're scones
[17:27] <Debbie-VB> This reminds me of Peregrine from the adept books.
he loved scones
[17:28] <Shiral> Sounds like a wonderful place, Slobbit <G>
[17:28] <slobbit> and they have free wi-fi
[17:28] <Martine> You don't have Panera on the west coast, Shiral?
[17:28] <Shiral> I'm trying to stay AWAY from baked goods, Martine
[17:28] <KK> I'm told that, strictly speaking, scones are not breakfast
food--but what do the Brits know about it anyway?
[17:28] <Dov> i mentioned him debbie :-)
[17:28] <Shiral> With only partial success
[17:28] <Debbie-VB> I've never heard about that chain. Is it in
Canada?
[17:29] <slobbit> dunno
[17:29] <Martine> Scones are to be eaten whenever the mood strikes you
:-)
[17:29] <Martine> www.panera.com
[17:29] <Shiral> This whole group is dangerous for me. You're the ones
who turned me onto Cinabon
[17:29] <Martine> Don''t think it's in canada, Debbie
[17:29] <Tika> lol
[17:29] <Bynw> cinabon
[17:29] <slobbit> Cinnabon is pure evil
[17:29] * Bynw drools
[17:29] <Tika> Cinnabon is evil incarnate
[17:29] <Mistyck> yes it is!
[17:29] <Martine> Panera has healthy stuff, too. Salads, sandwiches,
soup
[17:29] <Shiral> Excactly, Slobbit
[17:29] <slobbit> and . . . wifi
[17:29] <KK> Cinnabon makes my teeth hurt, it's so sweet.
[17:29] * Shiral hands bynw a towel
[17:29] <Debbie-VB> Cinnabon has disappeared from canada
[17:29] <Bynw> yeah but its soooo good tooo
[17:29] <Martine> Breathing in the Cinnabon aroma will put five pounds
on your hips.
[17:30] <Debbie-VB> It's now cinn-zeo
[17:30] <Shiral> Even if you happen to be doing hip shimmies at the
time!
[17:30] <Martine> yup!
[17:30] <Dov> as for breakfast, i long ago developed a taste for oat
porridge (oatmeal) the scottish way--with a little salt
[17:30] * Bynw went to Cinnabon just the other day
[17:30] <Martine> Although the Panera cobblestone is far more
dangerous, IMO.
[17:30] <Tika> should be called Sin-abon
[17:30] <KK> They seem to have stopped selling their really yummy
cinnamon.
[17:30] <Shiral> Really, the only way to combat the caloric onslaught
is to DO hip shimmies while eating them
[17:31] <Debbie-VB> or instead of eating them
[17:31] <Mistyck> I still have 2 bottles of it KK
[17:31] <Martine> Cinnamon raisin bread dough with apple chunks,
spices, and cinnamon roll icing..... <drool>
[17:31] <Mistyck> if you'd like one
[17:31] <Shiral> Oh, that's no fun, Debbie!
[17:31] <jemler> shimmy shimmy coco pop
[17:31] <Martine> Bop 'til you drop!
[17:32] <Bynw> Martine, where do you get that bread from??
[17:32] <Bynw> i want it
[17:32] <Tika> lol
[17:32] <Martine> lol!
[17:32] <Martine> Panera.
[17:32] <Bynw> fresh from the oven too
[17:32] <KK> Actually, my mother has turned me onto an even better
cinnamon from Vietnam, of all places--though I'm currently out, and
using regular stuff.
[17:32] <Mistyck> oh ok
[17:32] <Martine> They also have a wicked tart cherry scone, baked with
cream.
[17:32] <Martine> Vietnamese cinnamon is yum!
[17:32] <Mistyck> I'll have to try that
[17:32] <Shiral> It can take me a LOoooong time to work through a jar
of cinnamon
[17:32] <Mistyck> lots of Vietnamese stores around me
[17:33] <Samuel> is it really cinnamon? or is it some other plant that
they just call cinnamon?
[17:33] <Shiral> I didn't even know the Vietnamese HAD cinnamon
[17:33] <Mistyck> me either Shiral
[17:33] <KK> I put a mixture of cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla sugar on
my rasin cinnamon bagel every morning.
[17:33] <Mistyck> but India does, so it's not so far fetched
[17:33] * Debbie-VB makes a note to check out her local asian
supermarket for vietnamese cinnamon
[17:33] <the_Bee> a lot of spices originated in the East
[17:33] <Mistyck> Vietnam does have hills too
[17:33] <Shiral> IT's not a cuisine I normally associate with Cinnamon,
but you learn something new every day
[17:34] <KK> I need to check one of the Vietnamese stores here; easier
than having my mom send it from SF.
[17:34] <Wrengl> but cinabon's cinnamon is wonderful
[17:34] <Mistyck> yes it is
[17:34] <Dov> i think mccormick sells vietnamese cinnamon
[17:34] <Kelric> man. it's hot in Chi-Town today
[17:34] <the_Bee> we used to have cinnamon and sugar on toast
[17:34] <Mistyck> Dov, we've got some vietnamese stores on San Felipe
near Warwick
[17:34] <Shiral> I did too, Bee
[17:34] <Shiral> Tasty
[17:34] <KK> I still do!
[17:34] <Dov> <nod>
[17:35] <Debbie-VB> I still like cinnamon/sugar on toast
[17:35] <Mistyck> it is yummy
[17:35] <KK> Yike, just looked at the time, troops. Gotta head off to
bed. It's been a long day, with another similar one tomorrow.
[17:35] <Shiral> Night, Katherine
[17:35] <Dov> stay well katherine
[17:35] <Shiral> Sleep well
[17:35] <Mistyck> take care Katherine
[17:35] <slobbit> bye, kk
[17:35] <Martine> Night, Katherine!
[17:35] <jemler> g'night KK
[17:35] <Bynw> me too when i dont have rasin cinnamon swirl bread to
toast
[17:35] <Debbie-VB> Sleep sweet katherine.
[17:35] <Mistyck> have a great week
[17:36] <Martine> And I must now go in search of ice cream!!!
[17:36] <Tika> take care KK :)
[17:36] <Shiral> Thanks for Popping by
[17:36] <jemler> See you later
[17:36] <the_Bee> when my sister was little, we were out of cionnamon.
she kept demainding that Mom "MAKE SOME CINNAMON!"
[17:36] <Bynw> have a good night KK ... it was nice chatting with you
2x today
[17:36] <Tika> Martine you evil woman LOL
[17:36] * KK steps onto her Portal, waves good night, and disappears in
a shower of green sparkles, wondering what anyone would think if her
sparkles changed color....
[17:36] <the_Bee> nighters KK
[17:36] * Shiral waves back to kk
[17:36] <Martine> :-d
[17:36] <Shiral> We'd be shocked, KK!
[17:36] <Debbie-VB> they can be any colour you want them to be KK
[17:36] <Martine> We'd have to check our eyes
[17:37] <Shiral> Sparks get in your eyes.....
[17:37] * KK decides that she will think on the possibility....
[17:37] <KK> Good night, guys!
[17:37] <Martine> blue!
[17:37] * KK Quit
[17:37] * KK has left IRC
