[17:32] *** KK  has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:32] *** KK sets mode: +o KK
[17:32] *** KK sets mode: +O KK
[17:32] <Sedina> Hello KK
[17:32] <Shiral> Hello KK <G>
[17:32] <Bynw> Hiyas Katherine!
[17:32] <Jessie> hello Katherine
[17:32] <Rebecca> Hi Katherine
[17:32] <scribbler> Linda has the powers today....
[17:32] <virtualbabe> Hi KK
[17:32] <Kendall> Good evening, Katherine
[17:32] <KK> Hello, all.
[17:32] <ash> Hi KK, glad you enjoyed the tape
[17:32] <hygilac> Hi Katherine!
[17:32] * scribbler sends greetings to KK
[17:32] <KK> Ash, you're here!
[17:33] <RainbowMike> Welcome, oh guest of honor
[17:33] <ash> only just. :)
[17:33] <scribbler> Oh, now that KK's here, I have a question....
[17:33] * Shiral rolls out the red carpet for KK
[17:33] <KK> Yes, I did enjoy the tape.  It goes next to Anne McCaffrey.
[17:33] <ash> lol. okay.
[17:33] <Kiri``> hi Katherine =)
[17:33] <Wrengl> hi katherine
[17:33] <Bynw> Katherine, LBM says "hi" but she couldnt make it to the chat today ... I asked
[17:33] <Gamgee> Hello KK, and everyone else I have yet to say hi to.
[17:33] <ash> With any luck, I should be able to get more episodes soon.
[17:33] <KK> So, what's happening today?
[17:33] <Shiral> Have you had a good week, Katherine?
[17:34] * ash is going on the wagon after a far too much fun party last night.
[17:34] <KK> You talked to LBM?
[17:34] <Bynw> yeah
[17:34] <scribbler> Does anyone know of a good online map of Scotland? Especially the Glasgow area; my dad-in-law is looking for one for his geneaology class presentation....
[17:34] <ash> streetmap.co.uk? i dunno
[17:34] <Bynw> I've got her on my AOL buddy list KK :-)
[17:34] <KK> Aha!
[17:35] <Sedina> Err, scribs, I remember having seen one, but I don't remember where it was at.  Sorry
[17:35] <hygilac> multimap is a good site for uk maps
[17:35] <Kiri``> where was a week before last.. map something.. very detailed..
[17:35] <Wrengl> Katherine, will both you and Scott be attending the wedding reception saturday at Darkover?
[17:35] <Kiri``> it's a uk url
[17:35] <Kelos|logging> Mapquest?
[17:35] <KK> I should think so, Wrengl.
[17:35] <Shiral> Oh lord, beware of Mapquest! <G>
[17:35] <RainbowMike> Katherine, thanks to a very sweet person, I finally got to read about Brion's battle with the Marluk.  I liked it!
[17:35] <hygilac> multimap is a uk url
[17:35] <scribbler> He tried Mapquest, but it didn't cover Scotland....
[17:36] <Wrengl> Do either of you have any food allergies or taboos?  Kathi and I are handling the catering arrangements
[17:36] <Kelos|logging> It doesn't cover Clanton, AL, either...so don't feel bad. Heh.
[17:36] <Bynw> Pat it would be very odd if one of the attending celebrants did not go to the reception :-)
[17:36] <Kiri``> Linda, that could be it.. does it have a blue color to it?
[17:36] <KK> Well, don't get too fond of it, Mike.  I'll be updating it when I get to that part of Childe Morgan.  :-)
[17:36] <Wrengl> I know... still needed to ask!
[17:36] <hygilac> I haven't been there in a while; I think it might
[17:36] <scribbler> would it be www.multimap.co.uk?
[17:36] <Shiral> Then we'll be two for one on that aspect of Deryni History, KK <G>
[17:37] <KK> Scott can't do tomatoes or green peppers.  Other than that, we eat pretty much anything.
[17:37] <RainbowMike> I understand.
[17:37] <Shiral> We can read about two different versions of the event.
[17:37] <Rebecca> We already have two versions, Melissa.  Remember Legacy?
[17:37] <Sedina> Speaking of CM, how did writing on that go this week, KK?
[17:37] <Shiral> Has it been a good writing week?
[17:37] <Shiral> Sedina, GMTA <G>
[17:37] <KK> Yep, just like you'll get two versions of the death of Caitrin's sister, in the short story I just did for Rob and in Childe.
[17:37] <scribbler> So we'll have 3 versions, then....
[17:37] <Kiri``> Katherine - Do the Haldane's have a motto?
[17:37] <Wrengl> Thanks Katherine
[17:37] <Shiral> Now we'll have three, Rebecca <G>
[17:38] <Kendall> speaking of Deryni History, are there any plans in the making of post-Kelson? Say a couple of hundred years later?
[17:38] <Sedina> Shiral - none of this chit-chat, right.  Let's get down to business.  *g*
[17:38] <Shiral> Too right! <G>
[17:38] * Sedina giggles
[17:38] <scribbler> Just like there's two versions of the American Revolution -- ours and the British....
[17:38] *** virtualbabe  Quit (Connection reset by peer)
[17:38] <Bynw>  Katherine, I know why mIRC doesnt put you in the chat right away..... I remembered I set a timer on it to wait 15 seconds after you connect to join the chat .. :-)  so it's working the way it should
[17:38] <Shiral> Jessie, where are you? This kind of focus is usually YOUR job <G>
[17:39] * scribbler grabs a veal bacon wrapped monkfish and pounds Peer with it unmercifully....
[17:39] <Shiral> Oh dear, vb's been peered
[17:39] <KK> Didn't get much done on Childe, but proofed the galleys for the Gargoyle paperback (including the prologue and Chapter 1 of the first Childe book), went over the copy-edited manuscript of the Deryni anthology, and edited
several stories for the Templar anthology, including the one that's just come in from Susan Shwartz--which is dynamite!
[17:39] <Shiral> I don't think any other weapon is needed on Peer, <G>
[17:39] <hygilac> gosh, just realized Jessie is not nere!
[17:39] <Shiral> Wow, you HAVE had a busy week!
[17:40] <Sedina> Jessie's here...she's just not an @goddess right now
[17:40] <KK> Bynw, understood.  It eventually connected me tonight.  I'm still afraid to maximize the screen, though, for fear of losing my typing box the way I did last week.
[17:40] <scribbler> When is the SPG paperback due out? I think I saw it mentioned in the September Locus, but I can't remember....
[17:40] <KK> February for the Gargoyle paperback, complete with street map of Dublin.
[17:40] <scribbler> Great.....
[17:41] <Kendall> speaking of Deryni History, are there any plans in the making of post-Kelson? Say a couple of hundred years later?
[17:41] <scribbler> brb --
[17:41] <Sedina> very cool, Katherine
[17:41] <KK> No post-kelson plans at this point.
[17:41] <Kendall> okay
[17:41] <Rebecca> cool--now we can actually follow Francis and Paddy's adventures around town :)
[17:41] <RainbowMike> KK, whats the short story about that you'll be reading at that college campus?
[17:41] <Kiri``> Katherine - Do the Haldane's have a motto?
[17:41] <Wrengl> we're keeping katherine too busy with the past for her to have time to think of the far future, me thinks
[17:41] <KK> No Haldane motto has surfaced yet.
[17:42] <Kiri``> thank you =)
[17:42] <Shiral> I think you're right, Pat
[17:42] <hygilac> kiri has a few suggestions.. ..
[17:42] <Kiri``> oh no.. that was for a graphic..
[17:42] <KK> The San Bernardino story is called "Venture in Vain", and deals with the hounding to death of Caitrin's sister by Haldane forces.
[17:42] <scribbler> back -- I'm not sure Multimap will work for his needs, but I'll let him know -- thanks a lot all...
[17:43] * Kiri`` will happily wait for Katherine to reveal the true motto =)
[17:43] <Shiral> Princess Onora, if I recall correctly
[17:43] <KK> It's from the pov of Derek Delaney, who dies.
[17:43] <KK> Yes, Onora.
[17:43] <RainbowMike> Okay
[17:43] <Shiral> She was having a Real Bad Day
[17:43] <scribbler> Haldane motto: "Separation of Church and Deryni"....
[17:44] <Shiral> No, that's Loris' motto <G>
[17:44] <Wrengl> lol scribbler
[17:44] <hygilac> lol scribs
[17:44] <Kendall> lol Shiral
[17:44] <KK> Yep, she gives birth in a shepherd's hut, dies of post-partum hemorrhage as they try to continue escaping from Haldane forces.
[17:44] <scribbler> No, Loris' motto is "Separation of Deryni and Heads"....
[17:44] <Wrengl> no Loris's is Fire and Deryni
[17:44] <Kiri``> Pro juris et populo
[17:44] * Shiral mutters at herself, realizing that she has printed out her "August" page twice
[17:44] <KK> No, Fire the Deryi.
[17:44] <Kiri``> that's what i ended up with..
[17:45] <Kiri``> "set fire to the deryni"?
[17:45] *** Debbie-vb  has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:45] <Kiri``> re deb!

[17:45] <Shiral> Jeez, Loris can't just give them a pink slip instead? <G>
[17:45] <Debbie-vb> Peer get me?
[17:45] <hygilac> wb vb
[17:45] <Shiral> Wb Debbie
[17:45] <Wrengl> lol shiral

[17:45] <Shiral>  Yes Peer
[17:45] <hygilac> someone get him with the monkfish
[17:45] <scribbler> veal bacon wrapped, to boot!
[17:45] *** Debbie-vb is now known as virtualbabe
[17:45] <Shiral> "recession in Gwynedd, details at eleven.."
[17:46] <KK> Bynw, has Jasta sent you the next draft of the ceremony yet?
[17:46] <Kendall> Chris has left the computer!
[17:46] <RainbowMike> I'll bet everyone here has been "peered" at least once, huh?
[17:46] *** Tika  has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:46] <scribbler> where is Jasta today?
[17:46] * Shiral wonders where Jasta is, she said she'd be here
[17:46] <Bynw> No she hasn't Katherine
[17:46] <Sedina> Hey Tika
[17:46] <Shiral> Hello Tika!
[17:46] <scribbler> Tika!!!! How are you feeling, dear?
[17:46] <Jessie> hello Tika
[17:46] * Tika waves hello and kicks the naughty @
[17:46] <Kendall> what's the face for Chris?
[17:46] <RainbowMike> Hi Tika.... feeling better?
[17:46] <Wrengl> hi Tika
[17:46] <KK> I hope she's ok.  I wrote her a week ago, and no response.
[17:46] <Tika> a bit, thank you :)
[17:46] <hygilac> hi Tika
[17:46] <Tika> hmmm
[17:46] <Wrengl> what an expression Bynw!
[17:46] * Tika makes mental note to call Jasta
[17:46] * virtualbabe waves @ tika
[17:46] <hygilac> she was here the other night
[17:47] <scribbler> maybe she had too much fun with her boss away....
[17:47] <Bynw> what face??
[17:47] <Gamgee> hello tika
[17:47] <KK> Hello, Tika, we're counting down!
[17:47] <RainbowMike> You got a silly grin!
[17:47] <Shiral> Jasta's had a very bad schedule recently, KK
[17:47] <Jessie> Katherine:  the project came back -- and she ws working overtime all week --
[17:47] <Sedina> You look like you've either taken a bit of something sour...or you're looking at your feet for some reason, Bynw
[17:47] <scribbler> I told Bynw he should rub your tummy, like my sweetie does for me....
[17:47] <Shiral> We haven't seen much of her here
[17:47] <Kendall> you have your head down, eyes closed, and look like you are in pain
[17:47] <Tika> KK, yes we are! ;)   Did you get my email?
[17:47] <Wrengl> Now but you had a strange expression on your face before.
[17:47] <virtualbabe> *eep*
[17:48] <scribbler> Ack! Poor Jasta!
[17:48] <Tika> he was prolly laughing, Kendall hehehe
[17:48] <KK> Yes!  Thank you!  (I got distracted with work.)
[17:48] <Shiral> Yeah.  October was no fun for her
[17:48] <Kendall> he's smiling now
[17:48] <Tika> KK, 'tis ok I figured you were busy at work and NONE of us wants you distracted from that! ;)
[17:48] <KK> Did you check the first few weeks in January 1932?
[17:48] <Shiral> Indeed no, Tika <G>
[17:48] <Tika> I checked 3 years either side :(
[17:49] <Jessie> I checked 10 yrs Tika
[17:49] <Tika> no Carters in 1932 at all
[17:49] <KK> Sigh.  Then maybe he died in NY.
[17:49] <Tika> Jessie, ugh :P
[17:49] <Tika> you have NO idea how hot it was in that room LOL
[17:49] <KK> He has to be somewhere!  I don't think he was <really> an alien....
[17:49] <Tika> ROFL
[17:49] <Tika> ya never know ;)
[17:49] <Wrengl> lol kk
[17:49] <hygilac> microfilm room, Tika?
[17:50] <Shiral> Well, there's always alien abduction KK <G>
[17:50] <Sedina> lol KK
[17:50] <Tika> you *do* bleed red, right KK? :)
[17:50] <KK> Well, for all the paper trail the man left....
[17:50] <Tika> hygilac, uh huh
[17:50] <KK> Yep, did so just half an hour ago, sewing a neck ribbon on one of Scott's gongs.
[17:50] <hygilac> been there, done that; it's hot okay
[17:50] <Shiral> I don't know what it is, but every microfilm room seems to always be hot
[17:50] <KK> (Gongs are neck decorations and medals.)
[17:50] <Kendall> thanks KK
[17:50] <hygilac> thank you KK
[17:50] <Kendall> I was wondering
[17:50] <Tika> one of the biggest challenges was learning how to work the equipment...been a long time since I did anything with microfilm
[17:51] <Shiral> We did kind of wonder..
[17:51] <hygilac> I wondered if he was planning to come in chinese dress or something
[17:51] * scribbler is relieved -- imagined Scott with a large Chinese disk around his neck.....
[17:51] <KK> I played with microfilm in the Atlanta main branch last year.
[17:51] <Shiral> When you have old equipment, Microfilm is hell
[17:51] <Kendall> lol Scribs
[17:51] <Tika> LOL scribbler!!!
[17:51] <Shiral> snert Scribbler!
[17:52] <Wrengl> lol scribs
[17:52] <Kendall> snert Shiral?
[17:52] <Sedina> Shiral - I don't know, from my perspective as a former library assistant, I think that microfilm is hell - plain and simple.  *l*
[17:52] * Tika nods nods
[17:52] <Kendall> I agree with Sedina
[17:52] <Bynw> where is that Elf at anyway this eve?
[17:52] <Wrengl> Katherine there were two guys running in kilts in the Marathon this year.  VERRA interesting to watch
[17:52] <Shiral> yes, but with old equipment it's REALLY hell
[17:52] <Bynw> or even Ann....
[17:52] <Shiral> I'll drop Jasta a line
[17:52] * virtualbabe swoons
[17:52] <KK> But it's better than wading through boxes and boxes of disintegrating newspaper and stuff.
[17:52] <scribbler> true....
[17:53] <Kendall> that's true too KK
[17:53] <Sedina> Yes, older equipment just helps to bring it to a more inner circle of hell, that's true
[17:53] <KK> Wrengl, be stil my heart!
[17:53] <Wrengl> lol
[17:53] <Sedina> LOL KK
[17:53] <Wrengl> They were wearing signs saying Scotland
[17:53] <Sedina> And here I thought that I was the only one that had that kind of reaction to kilts!
[17:53] <Tika> Wrengl,  oooooo  ;)
[17:53] <KK> Scott was wearing a kilt the first time I met him.  :-)
[17:53] <scribbler> I would have LOVED to see that....
[17:53] <Tika> LOL
[17:53] <hygilac> nope sedina--you're in good company
[17:53] <Sedina> LOL KK
[17:53] <virtualbabe> hey, gotta love guys in skirts ;-)
[17:54] <Wrengl> wooooooooooo neat!
[17:54] <Kendall> you oughta see the reaction I have wearing kilts
[17:54] <Shiral> I just sent Jasta an e-mail
[17:54] * Sedina giggles at Kendall
[17:54] <Bynw> well now we know the whole story there KK
[17:54] <Jessie> Katherine:  ever hear any mention of Missouri in your "carters"?  --
[17:54] * Kendall blushes
[17:54] <KK> Nope.
[17:54] <KK> Just Georgia and NYC
[17:54] <Kendall> talk about making a room go quiet :)
[17:54] <hygilac> my nephew is in the Scots band in his college--they all wear Kilts
[17:54] <scribbler> Pat -- my husband wants to know if they were wearing them "traditionally"?
[17:55] * virtualbabe giggles
[17:55] <Wrengl> have NO idea!
[17:55] <hygilac> and most of the guys in the percusssion section wear them in the traditional fashion
[17:55] * Sedina is just obsessed with her Scottish heritage, 'tis all
[17:55] <hygilac> My sis was absolutely appalled
[17:55] <KK> How windy is it, where they march?  ;-)
[17:55] <Sedina> LOL scribs
[17:55] <Shiral> OO, bad KK <G>
[17:55] <Wrengl> There was no breeze this morning!
[17:55] * Bynw would wear one "traditionally" if he ever wears a kilt
[17:55] *** ash  Quit (EOF from client)
[17:55] <scribbler> LOL KK....
[17:55] <Sedina> Linda - yes, well...percussionists are a breed all unto ourselves.  *l*
[17:55] <Tika> Sedina you guys just gotta be related... Bynw is from the same clan after all ;)
[17:56] <hygilac> yes they are, sedina
[17:57] <Sedina> That's the wrong side of the family though, Tika...  *l* Unless Bynw's also got the Fraser or Campbell blood in him, we're not related via clans.  *g*  Just - possibly - through our Bergman side
[17:57] <virtualbabe> we finally traced my family back to ireland
[17:57] <scribbler> Runners in the Bay to Breakers in SF don't bother with kilts -- some run wearing nothing but running shoes and a smile....
[17:57] <Shiral> I once saw a pic of a guy in the bay to breakers dressed as a giant squid a la the Far Side Cartoon
[17:57] <Shiral> Don't imagine that he ran terribly fast in that costume, though
[17:57] <Sedina> LOL Shiral
[17:57] <KK> Some of them do come up with--er--interesting running gear.
[17:57] <Kiri``> yeah.. i saw some of the photos from this year =)
[17:57] <scribbler> or lack of running (mobile bars).....
[17:58] <Sedina> Tika - I do think that Bynw and I should still try to figure out if we are related though.  *giggles*  Would be kind of funny if we were
[17:58] <Shiral> Yeah, it's half race, half costume parade
[17:58] <Bynw> I've got Morris blood which is related to Clan Buchanan
[17:58] <Tika> Sedina, yes!
[17:58] * Tika thinks that would be a fun thing to investigate
[17:58] <Wrengl> We only had one in a Rhino costume, that I saw.  And one NYC Fireman walking in full gear.  And then a bunch of Wiz Kidz from England with bunny ear hats
[17:58] <KK> Buchanan and MacMillan tartan are very, very close.
[17:58] <Tika> a *RHINO* costume???
[17:58] <Tika> in a foot race?
[17:59] <Shiral> I think they were going more for style than speed <G>
[17:59] <scribbler> he won by a nose....
[17:59] <Tika> ROFL
[17:59] <Wrengl> Yup.  They run to save the Rhinos.
[17:59] *** ash has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[17:59] <Sedina> LOL
[17:59] <Kendall> by a horn
[17:59] <scribbler> WB ash
[17:59] <Kiri``> re ash
[17:59] <Shiral> WB Ash
[17:59] <Tika> hey ash!
[17:59] <RainbowMike> How does one know what their family tartan looks like?
[17:59] <hygilac> from what are they saving rhinos?
[17:59] <KK> Ash, I was hoping you hadn't just left.
[17:59] <ash> hola
[17:59] <Wrengl> Losts of people who don't stand a hoot in hell of winning wear outfits.  Did not see Gumby this year, however.
[17:59] <Wrengl> wb ash
[18:00] <KK> Gamgee, what's up on your side of the pond?
[18:00] <Bynw> I have a program that displays tartans of various clans
[18:00] <Shiral> There are books full of Scott's tartans, Mike
[18:00] <KK> Cool!
[18:00] <Wrengl> From extinction, linda
[18:00] <RainbowMike> Oh?
[18:00] <Shiral> You have to find your name and there's your tartan
[18:00] <Kendall> some are online too
[18:00] <Sedina> Mike, if you know what your heritage is (i.e. which clan you belong to) it's fairly easy to look up the tartan
[18:00] <Shiral> Yes, there are, now
[18:00] <ash> KK: my laptop is dying.
[18:00] <KK> Oh, no!
[18:01] <KK> Just the battery, I hope.
[18:01] <ash> its had 4+ years of very heavy usage...
[18:01] <Kendall> time to recharge?
[18:01] <Shiral> When I was first interested in clan tartans though, the internet was a couple of years away still
[18:01] <RainbowMike> Don't know the clan..... but I've got a scottish last name.
[18:01] <KK> Which is?
[18:01] <Sedina> That would be the clan then, Mike...or at least a sect of the clan
[18:01] <Kendall> see Sedina has been busy looking up history
[18:01] <Wrengl> We thought Kathi's name was Scottish but were told by the Glasgow bid people that it is more than likely English.
[18:02] <RainbowMike> ****** (Kiri please edit)
[18:02] <scribbler> My maiden name was Shearer -- don't know if it's Scotch or Irish in origin....
[18:02] * virtualbabe doesn't think the irish have tartans
[18:02] <Shiral> My mother comes from the Crawfords
[18:02] <Kiri``> will do mike
[18:02] <ash> KK: sadly, i think its just that the laptop is old.
[18:02] *** Sedina2  has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[18:02] <Sedina2> argh...
[18:02] <scribbler> the Irish do have kilts -- a friend of mine has an Irish kilt....
[18:02] <Wrengl> Mine is Irish but I have no idea where in Ireland the family originated from.
[18:02] * Tika knows her maiden name is Irish - and has not so distant relatives in Cork ;)
[18:02] <Shiral> Welcome, Sedina of Borg
[18:02] *** Sedina  Quit (Nickname ghosted by Sedina2)
[18:02] *** Sedina2 is now known as Sedina
[18:03] <Tika> LOL
[18:03] <Sedina> I'm multiplying again, I see
[18:03] <scribbler> ah -- Sedina is no longer beside herself....
[18:03] <Kiri``> KK - do the Irish have tartans?
[18:03] <hygilac> yes, matt has been looking up his Irish tartan
[18:03] <Wrengl> we noticed Sedina
[18:03] <Kendall> mine is Irish, possibly Scottish
[18:03] <Shiral> IT's that darned cell division Sedina
[18:03] <Tika> KK missed the Sedina collective that one time.... 'twas verra verra funny :)
[18:03] <Kiri``> or maybe plaids?
[18:03] <scribbler> I missed it too...
[18:03] <virtualbabe> I'll have to find if there is a Lanigan Tartan
[18:03] <KK> Yes, the Irish have some tartans.
[18:03] <KK> ********* is actually probably Irish.
[18:03] <Sedina> LOL Tika..  Twas probably a good thing.  Though Bynw did send me the screen shot of it though.  *lol*
[18:03] <KK> From ********
[18:04] <RainbowMike> Oh....
[18:04] <Wrengl> Irish Irish or Scotch Irish familys/Clans?
[18:04] <Kiri``> grew up with some **********
[18:04] <Kiri``> fyords.. *falls over laughing*
[18:04] <RainbowMike> Well, I'm irish and scottish.
[18:04] <KK> (For some reason, my new computer puts cedillas instead of apostrophes sometimes, and umlouts instead of quotes.
[18:04] <Kendall> who you asking Pat?
[18:04] <Shiral> Scottish and French Canadian here
[18:04] <Wrengl> Katherine
[18:04] <Tika> Mike do you fight with yourself occasionally? :)
[18:04] <KK> Scott says that ******** is actually ***********.
[18:05] <Bynw> that's a bit odd
[18:05] <Kiri``> KK - check your keyboard setting.. =)
[18:05] <scribbler> Irish and Scotch on my dad's side -- German on my mom's
[18:05] * ash points an accusing finger at his laptop....
[18:05] <Kiri``> KK - do the Irish have tartans?
[18:05] <Kiri``> or maybe plaids?
[18:05] <Shiral>  I think she said they did, Kiri
[18:05] <ash> this laptop is a stiff! its pushing up the daisys! its definitely not pining for the fyords!
[18:05] <RainbowMike> *L*
[18:05] <Shiral> You shouldn't have nailed it to it's perch, Ash
[18:05] <Kendall> unless you throw it into the fjord
[18:05] <Shiral> <G>
[18:06] <virtualbabe> it's an ex laptop?
[18:06] <Bynw> i've got 7 varieties of MacDonald tartans in this program
[18:06] <Shiral> It's run up the curtain and joined the choir invisibule
[18:06] <hygilac> there are loads of McDonalds
[18:06] <Sedina> Bynw - I still want to know why that program didn't work when you sent it to me.  I would have liked to have gotten to see that
[18:06] <hygilac> the McDonalds were very prolific
[18:06] <KK> I have it set for US keyboard, but maybe there's another one that works better.
[18:06] <Bynw> I dont know Sedina ...
[18:06] <Kiri``> shiral - thanks.. missed that answer =)
[18:06] <KK> Yes, the Irish have tartans.
[18:07] * virtualbabe thinks, Help the chat's been invaded by the monty python troup
[18:07] <Kiri``> thansk again Katherine =)
[18:07] <scribbler> you should have made Nigel a MacDonald then, not a Haldane.....
[18:07] <Sedina> Bynw - must just be because I wanted to see it, I guess
[18:07] <Shiral> Why, Scribbler? <G>
[18:07] <Bynw> LOL
[18:07] <scribbler> Prolific families, after all...
[18:07] <hygilac> lol, scribbler
[18:07] <Kiri``> so if one was Irish or irish descent.. how would one find if one had a plaid/tartan?
[18:07] <Wrengl> lol scribbler
[18:07] <Bynw> I'll put it on a disk and take it with me to Darkover
[18:07] <KK> Irish tartans tend to be regional ones, but there are some family ones.
[18:07] <Shiral> Well... Donal was  pretty prolific!
[18:07] <Shiral> So was Malcolm, really and Urien
[18:08] <Sedina> Bynw - that would be great!  Thanks.  *g*
[18:08] <Wrengl> Bynw can you let me have a copy of the program, also?
[18:08] <virtualbabe> My ancestors came fro Kerry area
[18:08] <Kendall> just make the lot of 'em MacDonalds then :)
[18:08] <KK> Scott is actually on a crusade to get people into Irish kilts rather than Scottish ones over here.
[18:08] <Bynw> Sure Pat ... hang around after the main chat :-)
[18:08] <Kiri``> KK - why?
[18:08] <Wrengl> will do
[18:08] <Bynw> yeah why??
[18:08] <scribbler> what's the difference? My friend has never worn his kilt around me....
[18:08] <KK> Because people tend to wear Scottish kilts for weddings and such, not knowing that there are Irish ones.
[18:09] <Wrengl> ah!
[18:09] <KK> He's also designed a distinctive jacket style to go with it, instead of a Prince Charlie.
[18:09] <Kendall> what is different 'bout the Irish ones?
[18:09] <Kiri``> oh.. what does it look like?
[18:09] <Wrengl> I think the Irish keep it quiet, maybe
[18:09] <RainbowMike> Prince Charlie?
[18:09] <Shiral> What does Scott's jacket design look like?
[18:09] <KK> The jackets have different lapels, cuffs--little distinctions.
[18:10] <hygilac> as in Bonny Prince charlie, who was a damned sight more French than scottish
[18:10] <Wrengl> that he was, linda
[18:10] <RainbowMike> With scottish kilts, you can see their bagpipes...  :-D
[18:10] <Kendall> ROTFLOL
[18:10] <scribbler> My friend says that the Irish invented kilts and bagpipes as a joke -- then the Scots came along and took them too damned seriously....
[18:10] * Shiral will be right back. Cats are petitioning for FOOD
[18:10] <Sedina> Yes, he certainly was... and he didn't do a hell of a lot of good for Scotland, that's for certain
[18:10] <KK> The Prince Charlie coat is traditionally black, cutaway, with tails in the back--the usual dress jacket that one sees.
[18:11] <Kendall> brb
[18:11] <virtualbabe> a gentleman is one who knows how to play the bagpipes, and doesn't
[18:11] <RainbowMike> Okay, thanks KK
[18:11] <KK> A lot of people think that Irish kilts are solid saffron--which they can be, but that's mostly for bands.
[18:11] * Kiri`` suddenly has a clipboard pushed in front of her.. with a "SIGN THIS" look from a furry one..
[18:11] <hygilac> got a lot of them killed, that's all
[18:12] <Tika> Kiri``, just don't let the furry one on the computer.... they are plotting to take over the world you know ;)
[18:12] <hygilac> this is true, Tika
[18:12] <Sedina> LOL Tika...been watching "Cats & Dogs" lately?
[18:12] <Shiral> Back
[18:12] <Wrengl> which is why Helping Hands Incorporated does not have internet access
[18:12] <Kiri``> they know how to type already Tika.. =)
[18:12] <virtualbabe> No tika, its' not a computer it's a nice heated kitty-bed
[18:12] <KK> But they make lots of mistakes.
[18:12] <Kendall> back
[18:12] <hygilac> they can communicate with each other without the computer
[18:12] * Kiri`` hopes there are attractive irish tartan/plaids out there
[18:13] <Tika> Sedina would you believe I never saw that movie?  I just know furry ones ;)
[18:13] <KK> Yes, Kiri.
[18:13] <Shiral> Who makes lots of mistakes?
[18:13] <ash> 'Gee mr pussykins, what are we going to do tonight?'
[18:13] <Shiral>  <G>
[18:13] <Sedina> Or it could just be a higher form of communication that we don't understand, KK
[18:13] <Wrengl> Katherine, I have pics of all three kittens and the CEO, if you would like me to send them to you, I will later.
[18:13] <ash> 'Same thing we do every night mr tibbs, try to take over the world! .... and get catnip'
[18:13] <Kendall> more likely Sedina
[18:13] *** Kelric  has joined #Deryni_Destinations
[18:13] * Tika nods agreeing with Sedina
[18:13] <KK> Yes, Wrengl!
[18:13] <Shiral> Hello Kelric
[18:13] <Kendall> hey Kel
[18:13] <Kiri``> hi Kelric!
[18:13] <hygilac> they are so cute
[18:13] <virtualbabe> Hi Kelric
[18:13] <Sedina> Tika - I actually just saw it for the first time the other day.  Had to laugh at it
[18:13] <Kelric> need chocolate!.
[18:13] * scribbler sends greetings to Kelric
[18:13] <Tika> howdy Kelric!
[18:13] <Sedina> Hi Kelric
[18:13] <hygilac> hi kelric
[18:14] <Kelric> howdy.
[18:14] <KK> Hello, Kelric!
[18:14] * hygilac goes for the chocolate
[18:14] <Wrengl> The three and Bitsey have been christened Helping Paws Incorporated because of their help with the jewelry making
[18:14] <KK> I'm sure they're very helpful
[18:14] <Wrengl> hi kelric
[18:14] <scribbler> I may rent it this week -- I need stuff to watch while working on Christmas gifts...
[18:14] <hygilac> I still have a few of the ones Laura sent me
[18:14] <Kendall> that reminds I got the chocolates from Laura and are they ever good!
[18:14] <Gamgee> we are now tied for the channel attendance record
[18:14] <Wrengl> oh they ARE Katherine!
[18:14] <RainbowMike> woo-hoo!
[18:14] <Kelric> Hmm.  Less than 2 weeks until the next huge kid assault on movie theatres.
[18:14] <hygilac> oh--Laura sends greetings, KK
[18:14] <scribbler> We need Duck in here before Kelric leaves.....
[18:15] <hygilac> she was here yesterday
[18:15] <Sedina> Pat, I think my kitties - or at least Sadie Belle - could be an honorary member of Helping Paws, Inc.  *l*  I can't wait to get my pics developed.  I KNOW that I've got some great ones of Sadie helping mom with my dress
[18:15] <Shiral> KK, how are Nicholas and Jessicat?
[18:15] <scribbler> Kids, and not a few adults....
[18:15] <KK> How's she doing?
[18:15] <KK> Nicholas and Jessicat--and Edgar--are fine.
[18:15] <Wrengl> now if only Carolyn (who said she would come today) or Jasta would only come in!

(to be continued...)
