As promised, photos of the Queen's Gate (Hyde Park), more often called the Queen Mother's Gate.  The Lion/Unicorn motif is in the centre, the sides are the same.  QETQM was Elizabeth of Glamis...

One of our less awful memorials and not one I, unlike some, I would help the visiting aliens to load into their spaceship

Snark attack.

As dim as a yard up a hog's [butt].

Could have ended the sentence right there, girlie.

Then they're well suited for each other.

The jokes just write themselves at this point. But it's just so much fun dunking on Colin.

I thought "CIIR Book of Common Prayer" was referring to an antique or a reproduction. I just looked up the issue with CIIIR's. Good Lord, it's a good thing relations with France have been smooth for some decades, and Ireland is O.K.!

Non-snark:

Quote from: Evie on October 10, 2024, 06:21:06 AM"Ramos was under siege as well, but we managed to take it last month on the twentieth."

Wait, what? Last we saw, Ramos had been in Gwynedd's hands, and was being supplied and had a Portal that Gwynedd was using. There's been no mention of it falling to Torval.

So what happened? Was Ramos taken by Torval without it being mentioned, and it was just retaken by Gwynedd? Or was Ramos held by Gwynedd all along, and Gwynedd relieved the siege by driving away Torval?

Tcmd, I have a copy of said BCP.  Also, it's "Psalter", not "Psaltar"

No, he's referring back to when Ramos was under siege by Torval, but Colin's forces got there in time to prevent it from falling, after which they began using it as their base. This is being told to someone who is only now hearing of those events we already know about.

The fact that he says it happened on the twentieth of the previous month should have been the clue that this referred back to the same siege in Chapter 22, which happened on that date. That's why I use the scene timestamps, to help keep readers up on when things are happening and make it easier to refer back to them.

Sorry, that made no sense out of context, I had intended it to be a direct reply to Judith. As do I have a copy of the Prayer Book in question.
