[17:33] <KK> And I'm beavering away at getting the cat carriers
sorted. The first ones are big enough for the two girls, but I'm
going to have to go to the next size up--and in a different brand--for
the three boys. Oswald is sorted.

[17:33] <KK> No renovations, only decoration.
[17:33] <KK> We're still aiming at leaving on March 14.

[17:34] <KK> Well, Scott's cataract surgery went off without a hitch,
so that was the only thing that was iffy.

[17:35] <KK> No, it's been fine for over 200 years, so the basic
structure is going to be fine. We are adding an indoor pool, though,
and renovating the house next door to be office space for income.

around NY they already have decorating stock for St Pat's Day in all
the stores

[17:36] <KK> Our hosue is fine; it's the rental next door that needs
renovation.

release date for High Deryni remix?

[17:41] <jemler> yes. the first one was called "Rumes of the earth"
Fatal Revenant comes out in Oct

[17:41] <KK> I can't believe you guys go on and on so about St.
patrick's Day. It's a national holiday over here, but none of the
silliness you have there.
[17:41] <Kelric> it's funny. we were looking at Children's Librarian
reference books (IE reference books for the librarians behind the
scenes) and in most of the books with annotations and book lists for
young adult readers in the fantasy area KK's books and the Kelson 1
trilogy are fairly common there

[17:42] <Mistyck> Katherine: do you plan on working on Hunting By
Gaslight or CM3 first?
[17:42] <jemler> You Unbelieve!
[17:42] <Kelric> whatever for me. I don't drink so I don't give a
flying beer about it

[17:43] <jemler> Just hope the publisher doesn't get them mixed up at
printing!
[17:43] <KK> Oh, and it looks like Knights of the Blood and At Sword's
Point are going to be rereleased, and the third book is finally going
to be commissioned.

Day here, but in Ireland, they just go to church in the morning and
carry on pretty much as normal
[17:44] <Kelric> actually something else I thought was quite cool that
I saw in a piece of potterverse fanfiction that I hadn't read lately
was a homage to Mistress KK.
[17:45] <jemler> what was the story?
[17:45] <jemler> i started to write one. never got very far
[17:45] <Kelric> The homage was the "Final Battle" between Moldyshorts
and Potter was done in a "Kelson vs Charissa" Duel Arcane style.
[17:45] <bereft> Nice.
[17:46] <jemler> ah. the one i started was Tom Riddle reading Kitron
in a class at Hogwarts
[17:46] <bereft> When you said Mistress KK, I was thinking of a
completely different genre
[17:47] <Kelric> heh. that would have been funny.
[17:47] <bereft> It has to do with bondage toys, and really did not
make any sense whatsoever
[17:47] <jemler> For once, no comment
[17:47] <Kelric> Man. Rowling can't keep her mouth shut. She
apparently just recently hinted that she might kill off Harry in book
7.
[17:47] <Kelric> She definitely needs a team of Zipper Sisters to Zip
HER mouth shut
[17:48] <jemler> she already said 2 people die
[17:48] <bereft> Well, that would certainly get her out of the
business of writing another sequal in that universe. She must be
pretty tired of Harry by now
[17:48] <jemler> anyway, she can't kill Harry. The prophecy said "One
cannot survive, while the other lives"
[17:49] <bereft> Prophecies are always open to interpretation
[17:49] <KK> Well, she could kill him off....
[17:50] <KK> She hinted some months back that she might kill him off,
but I think it's a bluff.
[17:50] <Kelric> heh, if people want to read this duel arcane, and
the writer really pulled it off pretty well,
[17:50] <bereft> Then the bad guy wins, and that does not work in
kiddy lit
[17:50] <Kelric> yeah
[17:51] <jemler> my favorite prophecy: "The Blind shall also See, one
day" The Harrowing of Gwynedd
[17:51] <KK> She'd never have to write another word if she didn't want
to. I think she'll do something completely different next time. She
don't do any more Harry Potter, though, I'm pretty sure.
[17:51] <Kelric> so. when does the rewrite of High deryni comes out?
[17:51] <Kelric>
[17:51] <jemler> Are the rewrites any different from the originals?
[17:51] <KK> They haven't told me yet, but I imagine it will be late
summer or early autumn.
[17:51] <Kelric> because I'm planning on doing a booktalk on the
Kelson 1 trilogy when fantasy week comes around in Reader's Advisory
[17:51] <Kelric> ok.
[17:52] <Kelric> it's more so I can say when the book will be back in
print.
[17:52] <TheDeryni> Katherine, do you read other fantasy novels for
pleasure?
[17:52] <KK> They're tighter. And of course, DC and HD have bridging
segments at the beginning, with material that hasn't appeared
elsewhere.
[17:53] <KK> Sometimes. But I'm immersed in Honor Harrington right
now.
[17:53] <bereft> Oh, goodie. That gives me the excuse to buy them
again and re-read everything
[17:53] <Kelric> ahh. you're a honorverse addict as well.
[17:54] <KK> Also, HD has a retrospective on Deryni genetics that
purists will find interesting, I expect.
[17:54] <Kelric> I WAS working on a reread of the series when I was
bumped into on wednesday while reading from my ebook and it dropped
and the screen shattered...

[17:54] <Kelric> it happened so fast that I didn't figure out who
bumped me so I could get some repair money from them...

[17:55] <Kelric> so it's costing me 50 bucks and shipping to have the
company replace the gadget. It will get to them on tuesday.
hopefully the new one will get back to me before I fly out to
California for spring break

[17:56] <KK> Can't stand to read whole novels on a screen--and
especially a small one.

space where I am right now

taken over the entire house

bookcases, for the insulation properties of the books themselves
[17:59] <KK> I've read about 5 of them, I think I'm on the 6th--but
not in order. The first one I read was the Honor of the Queen. And I
still haven't read On Basilisk Station, though I now have it on CD.
Need to print it out.

[17:59] <bereft> Hope so. It is a brick side wall with no insulation

tradition.

through War of Honor and Shadow of Saganami takes place in the middle
of At All Costs.

[18:03] <Kelric> just note that the first 5 books or so have the ships
WAY undersized. I think it was about at the point of Honor Among
Enemies that the "Great Resizing" occured
[18:03] <bereft> I wish more books were available on tape, so I could
listen and work at the same time
[18:03] <KK> Is there an Honorverse bible yet?

[18:04] <KK> Oh, and the term "ships of the wall"--I assume that's the
three-dimensional equivalent of ships of the line?
[18:06] <KK> Some of his terms one must try to decipher from context.

[18:07] <Kelric> the "wall of battle" is based on the sidewall
concept. Superdreadnoughts will line up in a square formation 1 ship
thick and when they take enough damage they just roll up on their
sides and let the impenetrable top and bottom bands take the hits

[18:07] <Kelric> no honorverse bible as of yet.

related pages doing well.
