things considered.

[17:44] <Sedina> that's good to hear, Katherine!
[17:44] <KK> She did not have a broken femor; but she has 3 cracks in
the pelvis around the joint.
[17:44] <Shiral> How's your back holding up, Katherine? <G>
[17:44] <martine> Have you done your daily ten reps of dog lifting
training yet?
[17:44] <KK> None of it is shifting, so surgery has been averted, God
willing.
[17:44] <JastaElf> I'm so glad it wasn't worse!
[17:45] <Shiral> Me too!
[17:45] <martine> Hurray!
[17:45] <kirienne> yay!
[17:45] <KK> We use a sling under her back end to help her get up the
stairs at night--sort of a suspension crutch. Not too bad on my back
at all, think goodness.
[17:45] <Shiral> Excellent. My sister used to do that with her dog
[17:45] <JastaElf> Ouch nevertheless....
[17:45] <kirienne> that's good
[17:46] <martine> Is she behaving herself and not trying to overuse
her back legs?
[17:46] <martine> (Unlike my silly cat)
[17:46] <KK> thank goodnessShe gets more mobile every day. And the
vet allowed us to double up on the original meds, so she's pretty
comfortable. No longer falls over when she tries to pee.
[17:46] <JastaElf> Oh dear! Poor Scrappy....
[17:46] <martine> Now that would be a sight!
[17:46] <martine> Poor puppy.
[17:46] <Sedina> I'm telling you, Martine...Arwen and Sadie are
somehow related
[17:46] <Shiral> I'll bet Scrappy is relieved by this too
[17:47] <KK> She's a trooper. We rigged a ramp on the front steps,
and she quickly learned to use it on request.
[17:47] <Shiral> Umm...In more ways than one <G>
[17:47] <martine> How old is Sadie anyway, Kim? <g>
[17:47] <Sedina> um, 4ish, we think
[17:47] <Shiral> Smart girl, Scrappy
[17:47] <KK> I think she's enjoying the extra attention, and that
helps balance out the discomfort.
[17:48] <martine> We think Arwen's 6, so they can't be litter mates.
There's gotta be shared genetic material somewhere!
[17:48] <Shiral> Never heard of a dog that didn't love extra
attention.
[17:48] <Shiral> Or a cat, either
[17:48] <martine> She's eating it up, Katherine, and teaching classes
in it!
[17:48] <KK> Scrappy is always starved for it.
[17:48] <Sedina> Martine - the only thing is that Sadie can't pull off
the princess pose...
[17:48] <Sedina> attention is always a good thing...

[17:48] <martine> Scrappy? Naw.... I don't remember any "Love me pet
me rub my belly.... you're my bestest new friend!"
[17:48] <Shiral> Yes, she did love her tummy rubs
[17:49] <KK> Still does.

[17:49] <KK> Anyway, it's been quite a week at Holybrooke.
[17:49] <martine> Sedina - Arwen actually is VERY graceful when
squirrels and birds aren't involved!
[17:49] <Shiral> No other disasters, I hope?
[17:49] <martine> What else happened?
[17:49] <KK> We got the mirror doors for my dressing room, and the
guys built the base for it Friday.
[17:49] <martine> Whoo hoo!
[17:49] <Shiral> Excellent
[17:50] <kirienne> that's exciting
[17:50] <KK> I painted the couple of walls that still needed it, and
they'll probably finish with the doors tomorrow.
[17:50] <Sedina> Martine - I can't quite say that about Sadie...
[17:50] <JastaElf> Cool!
[17:50] <kirienne> ooohhh, that will be sooo nice
[17:50] <Sedina> Very cool
[17:50] <KK> Then, a bit more paint touch-up--inevitable with
builders--and I'll need to get a carpet remnant for the floor.
[17:50] <martine> Or laser pointers. She looks hysterical running
after a laser pointer, because her limbs thrust out at all angles
trying to catch it while she's dashing at top speed!
[17:51] <Sedina> Sadie just chases her tail
[17:51] <Ghostgames> On the remodeling topic, Paul and I finally got
living room furniture! (The workmen left last August.)
[17:51] <Shiral> House projects seem to have two paces. Slow and
lightning speed
[17:51] <JastaElf> YAY! Furniture is good....
[17:51] <kirienne> LOLl Ann
[17:51] <Shiral> Good, Ann!
[17:51] <KK> Oh. Sadness to report. Our swallows came back about two
days ago, and tonight we found one dead in the front fuest bathroom.
Not eaten, just dead. Unsure who was responsible, but I'm very sad
about it.
[17:51] <Sedina> Furniture is always a good thing, Ann
[17:51] <Ghostgames> Two big chairs, two big ottomans, a sleeper-sofa,
all upholstered in blue denim.
[17:51] <JastaElf> Martine, my kitties ADORE the mysterious laser
pointer....
[17:51] <martine> Poor swallow. :-(
[17:51] <Ghostgames> Sorry to hear that, Katherine. :-/
[17:52] <kirienne> new furniture is ALWAYS fun
[17:52] <martine> Hooray, Ann! How does the new room look?
[17:52] <kirienne> oooh, that is sad KK
[17:52] <Shiral> It's so much more comfortable than sitting on the
floor
[17:52] <Ghostgames> Well, right now it's got Paul's computer
furniture (for the upstairs office) taking up a big chunk of it. ;-)
[17:52] <Ghostgames> (He's building his own furniture.)
[17:52] <Shiral> That's the trouble with cats. They are little
predators
[17:52] <KK> When I looked out on the porch tonight, the other one
wasn't there either. And there'd already been some other feathers on
the bedroom floor, that didn't belong to the one later found in the
bathroom. I hope the cats didn't get both of them.
[17:52] <Ghostgames> We still have a lot of work to do in the living
room, but at least we have the plasma screen TV and comfy furniture.
[17:52] <Shiral> Isadora was a hunter in her time

[17:53] <martine> How's the plasma screen working out?

[17:53] <martine> Has Paul been able to turn it off yet? <G>

[17:54] <Shiral> But I established the "no Bites" rule VERY early in
my cat's lives
[17:55] <Shiral> Besides hurting, cat bites can be dangerous
[17:55] <KK> Anyway, from dog-hauling, and painting, and treks to B&Q
for the mirror doors, and treks to various other suppliers, I'm
pooped. But I wanted to let you know about Scrappy's progress.

[17:55] <RainbowDragon> any writing progress?
[17:55] <Shiral> Hooray, I hope things calm down a little in the
coming week, Katherine
