[16:59] <kirienne> A few weekends ago, I went looking at model homes, I
had to stress to the selling agent, that I had NO money, I was just
looking adn dreaming, she told me to have a good time and browse and
dream as long as I wanted
[17:00] <KK> Looking at houses is cool. We also watch lots of home
improvement shows, though we know we could do better than most.
[17:00] <the_Bee> I have an old fantasy about interior-decorating my
own home in the colors of the 4 seasons
[17:00] <KK> Tillie is on my lap tonight, helping me type. And Sasha
is now a bed buddy.
[17:01] <Shiral> For one thing, you're starting with a cooler house
than most
[17:01] <the_Bee> awwwww!
[17:01] <kirienne> it was funny, I liked the furnishings much better
than the houses. All of the model homes had things I liked, but I
didn't like any of the dozen homes in their entireity, I liked a room
from this, another room from that and so on
[17:01] <KK> This is true.
[17:01] <RainbowDragon> Sasha has officially joined the household then
:-)
[17:01] <jp> I may be in Ireland this summer, my folks are going back
to the family home in Roscommon, might have to make a pilgrimage to
Kurtz villas and also check out the cliffs outside Dublin for a spot of
climbing
[17:01] <Shiral> Has worked his way into the feline inner circle it
seems
[17:01] <KK> Pretty much. He went last week and got his first
vaccination, and got wormed.

[17:02] <TerryOBrien> I've been dreaming of getting a new place,
preferably an old place, renovated. I really do need a larger place,
what with all of the video equipment in the living room.

[17:03] <KK> He's pretty good natured about it, though.

[17:03] <KK> Still doesn't like to go past the dogs, so he waits until
they're out before be comes upstairs.

[17:03] <kirienne> well at least he is getting more and more
comfortab;e

[17:04] <KK> News on the Oswald front: He's now cleared to be let off
the lead for an hour or two per day. We're doing it right before
suppertime, figuring that he wont go too far then.

[17:04] <Shiral> Good, glad to hear Oswald is making progress

[17:05] <KK> Yeah, he goes mack for hopefully the last set of x-rays in
2-3 months, after which he should have a clean bill of health. Made
good progress between sets 1 & 2.
[17:06] <Imladris> thought welll.. maybe she got a falcon... or a
palfrey...
[17:06] <KK> Definitely an Irish Bassador.
[17:06] <Shiral> A very nice dog, too
[17:07] <Wrengl> that is good
[17:07] <Wrengl> glad he is doing so well, katherine
[17:07] <the_Bee> You've met him, Shiral?

[17:07] <Shiral> He also takes his position as Holybrooke Security
Chief very seriously
[17:07] <KK> If he had long legs, he'd be a big dog. As it is, he
weighs about 75 lbs.

[17:08] <Shiral> He's solid
[17:08] <RainbowDragon> short legs but a big heart?
[17:08] <KK> Yes. And this year, for some reason, he's shedding much
more than ever before--great clumps of fur came out of his fluffy
pantaloons.
[17:08] <jp> the Irish diet of boiled bacon and spuds will do that to
anyone
[17:09] <kirienne> lol
[17:09] <Imladris> A couple I know got a Mastiff puppy recently, Do
*NOT* know what they were thinking, he had bad back.. and she barely
makes a hundred pounds.
[17:09] <the_Bee> and that's a puppy?
[17:10] <KK> They've both put on weight during Oswald's convalescence,
but that should come off fairly quickly, as they get more active again.
[17:10] <Imladris> the puppy.. is already about 50#
[17:10] <Shiral> Not the best choice of dog for them, perhaps
[17:10] <the_Bee> they=Oswald + ?
[17:11] <jp> Perhaps both of them together can handle one Mastiff?
[17:11] <KK> Big puppy. At the stable next door, there's a
Rottweiler--sweet dog, but that's partly because Oswald put manners on
him when he was little.
[17:11] <the_Bee> good for Oswald.
[17:11] <kirienne> :-)
[17:11] <Shiral> Oswald definitely means what he says
[17:11] <kirienne> yes, good for Oswald
[17:12] <KK> His name is Ben. And I'll never forget the day he came
into the forecourt and Oswald took exception; jumped on his back and
grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and rode him for about 50 yards,
with Ben yelping all the day. Taught him respect, it did....
[17:12] <jp> Basset hound versus Rottweiler, I know where my money
would be
[17:13] <Shiral> That's not a mistake Ben will make twice
[17:13] <kirienne> LOL, I bet Ben shows proper respect now

[17:13] <KK> His name should actually be Gentle Ben. Rottweilers got
bad press in The Omen: the Devil's dogs....

[17:14] <RainbowDragon> My little sister has a Rottweiler who thinks
its a lap dog
[17:14] <Shiral> Dogs respond to the kind of treatment they get,
whether for good or ill
[17:14] <Shiral> my friend Vee had a german shepherd who thought the
same thing, RD
[17:14] <Shiral> Sweet dog, but very heavy
[17:14] <KK> Oswald thinks he's still a lap dog. That's because when
he was a puppy, Scott would put him on his chest on Sunday mornings
while he read the paper.
[17:14] <jp> bacon and spuds?
[17:15] <KK> Instead of bacon, think corned beef.
[17:15] <jp> ahh
[17:15] <kirienne> I bet that was a cute sight
[17:16] <KK> It was. Not so cute now, though--but Scott still puts up
with it for a while. And Oswald loves it.
[17:16] <kirienne> lol
[17:16] <Shiral> And here I thought it was hard to read the paper with
a cat on my lap. My had is off to Scott.
[17:17] <jp> have you got a cold
[17:18] <the_Bee> who?
[17:18] <Shiral> So has Brion been crowned, yet?
[17:18] <KK> Well. I'd better boogie. Tomorrow is a bank holiday, but
we have to leave early to go to a funeral up in county Meath. And
elderly friend of ours, age mid-80's. Nice man. But he had a long,
full life.

[17:18] <KK> No coronation yet. That's delayed until a new archbishop
can be elected.
[17:18] <Shiral> ah
[17:18] <RainbowDragon> more progress on the book?
[17:18] <the_Bee> anyone we've met?

[17:19] <Shiral> Sorry to hear about the death, Katherine
[17:19] <KK> And I've had to suspend the book to proof the page proofs
for the reissue of Deryni Checkmate.

[17:20] <KK> Paul de Tolan will be the new archbishop. But Patrick
Corrigan makes an appearance as Auxiliary Bishop of Rhemuth.
[17:20] <kirienne> Have a good week Katherine, sorry to hear about the
funeral..I went to one a few weeks ago, for my friend's mom. The woman
was 94 and died while on vacation with my friend in Alalsk
[17:20] <KK> In DC, there's a new Interlude chapter at the beginning.
Most of the rest is just tidying and polishing.
